 | Is Paul Simonon an high profile artist?
A collection of incredibly high-profile artists ` including U2, Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, and Paul Simonon ` have reportedly signed on in support of an initiative that would extend British copyright terms for recordings from 50 to 95 years. The musicians claim they`re seeking `fair play,â? whatever that means.

 | He was a member of the Punk-group "The Clash".
Paul Simon (always searching for new influences) went to see them in New York in the late seventies but had to leave "to protect my ears". |

 | I think fair play means that after so many years in the UK copyright lapses after so many years (40 I think) which means the artist no longer receives any royalties as opposed to their American counterparts who enjoy the ownership for their lifetime. So fair is fair.
On another note Paul Simonon has recently joined a (as yet unnamed group) called The Good, The Bad and The Queen along with Damon Albarn and other notables. Their firt single was out at the end of October. |
