 | I took this out of a recent article on Carrie Fisher´s show. Paul seems kind of cold. =(
"She said her marriage to Simon finally fell apart when she was traveling between New York and Los Angeles during the making of the movie adaptation of her bestselling pseudo-memoir, Postcards from the Edge. After a long weekend spent mostly arguing, Fisher found herself boarding a plane to the West Coast, when she turned to Simon and sneered, "You´ll feel bad if I crash." Simon, she claimed, simply shrugged and said, "Maybe not."
That´s not the only venom Fisher spewed at her first ex-husband. At one point in the show, she played a snippet from a recording of one of his songs`despite the fact that she said he refused to give her the rights to do so. "I didn´t take alimony," Fisher said in her defense. "So, this is my alimony."

 | Doesn´t look good for Carrie Fishers career when she has to tell stories about her more famous ex-husband to get attention..... ? |

 | People aren´t on their best behaviour when their marriage is breaking up. Carrie Fisher´s a very smart woman but she acts pretty dumb sometimes. |

 | She still must be so much in Love with him to go on talking about him so much after so many years ;-) |

 | I thought they are still good friends - because Harper and Carrie are so close. |

 | I can completely see Paul saying that as a response to her. That´s just how his sense of humor works. Carrie was egging him on, how was he supposed to respond? If he had groveled at her feet or something that probably would have made her even more angry. (assuming this incident actually happened) |

 | Harper seems to be one of best adjusted celeb offspring around. Has no problems getting on with his original parents, and yet has a great relationship with both his stepmothers |

 | I though they´re marriage broke up largely because she was a bad drug addict. Is that true? |

 | Well, first of all: yes, it is true that Carrie had a very bad drug habit that probably put a strain on their marriage.
As for this show of hers, I must say that I can´t blame her for being bitter. She´s had a rocky life, and Paul is nicely settled with Edie and his kids now. Maybe she´s jealous of that?
As for what Paul supposedly said: I´m not sure if what she said happened is true, but if it is, then that´s really sad. It sounds like their entire marriage was devoid of Tenderness. :( |

 | Well, we´ll never really know about what happened, but I do remeber of what occassion that was equally cold, on Carries part. They were in the bedroom. She´d apparently started on again about marriage and Paul said he wasn´t interested or ready (can´t remember which.) She got the trop on, got out of bed and walked out.
Going by the things I´ve read I think Paul felt pushed into marriage because she kept walking out when ever he said he didn´t want marriage. I think he got sick of it and just gave in...and look what happened.
When I read interviews with Carrie she is rarely nice about most men she has known. There was this programme with Ruby Wax where a bunch of celebs sat around a table drinking, smoking and talking and she seemed bitter about life in general. Given the way she was in this program I´d want to walk away.
But she did once say that Paul was one of the funniest people she knew when drunk....Apparently he poured wine all over her cat.

 | She also said he was the Love of her life. They had a very intense love affair over many years. I think they still respect each other-he has said she has the most unique mind he has ever known. Hopefully the bitterness is past. I think it is great that Harper has a great relationship with her. Obviously Paul never bad mouthed her, and he must have encouraged Harper´s relationship with Carrie. |

 | If you compare it to how other divorced couples talk about each other, I think they both have a lot of respect for each other.
I am glad, that Nobody quotes what I am sometimes saying to my husband, when we are in the middle of an argument. I mean, that´s the way it is in a relationship - there are times, when you are not really nice, it is part of the life. |
