Hi Richard, I´m OK. You´re explanation was clear to me. "The Original Video" that I mentioned in the last post is about one of the ROCK FACT: "The original video for this song was banned because it featured a woman eating her own face." which is superimposed at 1:33.

I have a copy of vivo data of this clip at Jean-Marc´s Orliaguet site which seems to down for a while. That clip is identical except for that it doesn´t have the ROCK FACT.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing a lot of interesting S&G video clips at YouTube.

Maybe I could upload the whole TV show somewhere? These Rock "Facts" are sometimes quite funny, claiming for exmaple that due to Artie´s wonderful voice in Wateship Down´s music theme Bright Eyes the rabbits finally got allowed to vote :D

"thats a beat into every other fans face"

I don´t know what this means - it certainly isn´t English.

If you mean that I´m not allowed to ask a civil question here unless I have heard all Paul Simon´s CDs, read his interviews, watched his VHS recordings etc, I can only say that I´m not that kind of fan. Apparently you have no room for casual fans here. In that case I´m happy to leave.

Well Rosemary, it wasn´t meant that way, you don´t need to be so upset or angry, sorry if you understood me wrong.

But anyway, the Concert at the park 1991 is such a important thing, a real milestone in Pauls career (he played there in front of 500-750 thousand people, this concert was aired on TV stations worldwide) that I would suggest you to watch it - even before you buy any other CD or DVD. At least I think every fan should have watched it (that has nothing to do with reading every article...you know, that question was like "What is the moonwalk, asked on a Michael Jackson forum" ;-)

It is indeed a great concert to watch. It is stupendously good. I wish it would be put out on DVD.

Well Bodo I´m not really so very angry but if you look at my entry in the fan database you´ll see that I was 2 years Old when that concert happened so they may have shown it worldwide but I don´t remember seeing it. Perhaps because you´re such an obsessive fan (in a very nice way I´m sure) you just don´t realise that some of us don´t even have VHS players and don´t really want to be Paul Simon Experts apart from just loving some of his CDs. I hope this makes sense. Anyway if the "experts" here are going to mock us non-experts I suppose I´ll just have to learn to laugh along with them but really I wonder sometimes if some of these experts should go outside and get a little fresh air and remember that Paul Simon may be very nice but he´s only a popular music singer after all.

I hope too they release it on DVD one day. Maybe this is one of the next releases, we got the songbook and the Tower concert in the last years.
But I hope they do not miss the chance and include ALL songs this time, also the appearance of Chevy Chase - and some backstage material.

So thanks to the Youtube, you can now watch nearly every of the pieces from that VHS... Some of them already were there, now I added some and maybe will add more, so anyone can teach himself about Paul Simon. And for your info - there is also CD release with that show, which has nicer sound than the tape, so maybe you can look for it ;)

You are right about the Central park clips Richard (the history of VHS players is over, so sharing them this way is the only possible way at the moment) - but I personaly would not put the clips from DVD´s like ´Youre the one live from Paris´ or ´The tower concert´ or ´The African concert´ onto Youtube. These DVD´s are widely available and if someone wants to see that concert he should buy that DVD in my opinion.

Anyway - you should not thank youtube for that, because uploading copyrighted material is against their rules. I have read in an article that youtube gives
the personal data of people who upload material to every copyright holder, when they complain about their copyrighted material.
For me personaly Youtube is somehow a ´too hot´ place to share these things. Although I would also agree that no one (official) is really interested in these few Paul Simon clips, so nothing will happen.

(BTW: Didn´t you ever wonder that napster a few years ago was the place for :illegal music and had to be closed - and now a few years later a place where you can ´share´ illegal videos is worth 1.65 billion $.... Why wasn´t napster worth a billion $ ? I don´t get it....)

I was thinking about that already and I will delete some of that clips soon... My though was that it can advertise a little and let people buy that DVD´s as well as other Paul´s releases. I will leave there online only little of them after few days.

Thats true Richard, for advertising these DVD´s youtube is a good place.

When google bought youtube they said that they have signed many contracts with copyright holders to make everything legal - but they did not mention any company names and what is legal and what not... Maybe they announce in a few weeks that everything is allright (but I somehow can not believe that a company like Warner allows to share all their movies for a small fee ? )

Actually, they deleted already one of my uploaded movies - Paul with Willie playing Graceland at Saturday Night Live.

Really?

Hm, I think it does matter to wich TV station this clip belongs. Rupert Murdoch was not so happy that google bought youtube, so it could be that they are searching for all clips belongin to one of their tv stations and delete them. If Warner Bros. starts to do the same thing youtube will loos a lot of clips.

I wanted to ask if there is any good bootleg from the 12 city solo live tour from 1984 available. I got the show from Merriweather where the audicence is incredibly loud while Paul Simon is audible in the background only. So you have to turn it deafening loud to hear him singing...

Also, does anyone know from which show the Old Fiends recording of Kathy´s Song comes? He rarely sings it live and it would be cool to have a show where he plays it (and not one of those dull boots from the last S&G tour please)!

As far as I know Merriweather is the best show, but I do not have to turn it deafening loud to hear Paul.

I do not understand your 2nd question. Take a look at the bootlegs section to search for what you want. What do you mean with ´Old Friends recording of Kathys song´ - if you do not want it from the last S&G shows?
