 | According to the news section of thedreamerofmusic Surprise has sold 237.000 copies in the USA and it has a gold disk in the UK. There is a site Nielsen soundscan that tracks sales of music and music video´s.

 | It looks like it´s a site for business people, I guess someone at thedreamerofmusic has contacted someone who has access to the information. |

 | Unfortunately the monthly report OF RIAA does not work since end of May. (You can go there via Google).
I think Surprise will sell better than YTO (which was about a million worldwide), but will not be a lasting success like Graceland and ROTS.
But more interesting for me is that nearly all of my friends who like Simon`s older stuff don`t like Surprise, and many others never heard his music like it.
Could there be a higher achievement?? |

 | 237.000 sounds extreme low. That is not even half enough for gold. |

 | If this figure is correct Paul should play more new songs on the tour. |

 | Thank you all for working on an answer to my question. I find it hard to believe that Surprise has sold less than YTO... but then again, the US has turned really ugly since the release of YTO, sad to say... |

 | Let`s wait whether there will be an award for gold or not.
It would be his second album after 1965 not to sell 500.000 copies in the US. (Hearts And Bones was the first.)
It would be a great dissapointment, as in Europe it sells better than YTO, although he does nothing to promote it except England.
He really is an anti-star...

 | You can be an "anti-star" as you say Klausi but you can wish all the same to please your fans and make more concerts !
If the only concert Paul makes in Europe is England, then, he really takes us for fools and if he doesn´t feel like playing live anymore, then, sorry, but it means it´s time for him to retire ! |

 | Nath: full support from me !
Please do not forget the "Songs From The Capeman" disaster which sold something like 50 000 copies ! That is for me his biggest flop, on stage and as an album. |

 | Well - about touring - I think he will come to Europe next spring or summer and give a lot of shows.
This year he gave more concerts than ever since the early 90´s |

 | 50.000 ? I have never heard any numbers before, but that sounds too low. |

 | Yeah, more concerts than ever in the US but next spring he will be too tired and will come to Europe... only for his holydays ! :-) |
