 | Can someone tell me the origin of ten years? Did Oprah commission that song, because I have not seen it on a PS album. I own the Rainforest cd that has it on it. Just curious... |

 | Paul made it on request as a tune for the show of Ophra, as a anniversary theme. It`s not on PS album, not even as a bonus track in the 9 cd box. You can find it however on ´Carnival: Rainforest Foundation Concert´.

 | I think Warner does not own the publishing rights on that song. Guess because ´Ophra´ is aired on a channel which does not belong to Warner, and so Paul published it via another company.
That sucks a little bit, like the Columbia problem (with Slip Sliding Away....which has been solved finaly).
On the other side people have to buy the Rainforest CD, and spend some money for the forests. (And do not have to buy another compilation with Diamonds, Graceland, 50 ways and everything else on it what they already have for 6 times)

 | Is it possible for someone to upload this song on this site for download. I have never heard it before and would be very interested to. Thanks all. |

 | As comment on this CD "Carnival", supporting the charity/benefit-funds Sting and his wife founded to save the rainforests in South America and maybe elsewhere, Simon wrote, he "gave away this song" to Sting and this funds.
It was composed for Winfrey`s ten-years anniversary of her show. It seems that she is a Simon-fan, he was guest in late 1997 promoting the Capeman and sang a little bit of this song.
So all income out of it meanwhile is determined for the rainforest cause, although Simon surely is entitled to perform it and sue everybody else doing so without permission.
Although quite simple, Simon managed to keep the song interesting by using intervalls, slight tempo-changes etc.
A good example and answer to his question he described when working with Brian Eno: "we both are interested in changes. How often can you repeat a certain melody line or rhythm until it gets boring." |
