I realized that they have deleted the horrible synth piano (Tony was playing?) from YTO. Now the new live version sounds much better.
What I still can not hear are the ´extra´ drumms from Robin DiMaggio..? I especially expected on YTO much more drumms...but nothing. Only Cecilia and the short (really short) end of Diamonds sound more powerful to me.
IMO it would have been much more effective to add a percussion player instead of a 2nd drummer.

Maybe they have been reading our comments about that one ;-)

Yeah, I am glad that they remove the synthe from YTO. In the concert, the sound of it when it is played is a little bit too low IMHO.

With regard to the second drummer, it does have an effect during the show that we can´t mesure while hearing a so-so MP3 of a live song.

Personnally, I missed Jimmy Haddad, no doubt about it. Concerning percussionist VS 2nd drummer, we need to remind that PS probably wanted a more american sound to his last album and to the tour, avoiding the polyrythmic of YTO, that - following an interview given by PS - seemed to have distracted people from what he was saying. So, 2nd drummer instead of Haddad makes sense in this perspective.

Finally, about whether or not our comments are taken into account, I would say no at 99%. My best example is the fact that a lot of fans really liked Northeast compared to Outrageous which really did not attract many of us. Guess on what they decide first to promote the album ? Outrageous !!!

eh.. initially Outrageous was my favourite song on Surprise, now taken over by NE, thats me and wartime prayers. I think Outrageous is the most accessable song (other than F&D) the others take a bit of listening to which is not what our "instantaneous gratification" generation are good at:-)

Mine not, I hated it. From the 3 songs we could hear before the release, I loved NorthEast from the beginning, liked Wartime Prayers, and could not stand Outrageous.

My favourites on the album are now in this order

Another Galaxy
Everything about it
Thats me
How can you live
Sure don´t feel
Wartime Prayers

Beautiful
Outrageous
Once upon
Dont believe
F&D

F&D is on the last place because it does not fit to the other songs, I often skip it after track 10 and start with NE again.

Man you sure did under rate Once Upon. Lyrically and musically it´s awesome. He creates this kind of rolling ball feel at the beginning and the momentum and tension just keep building as the song progresses. Pretty cool. Oh, and I don´t think that "Onc" Once pause is a mistake at all. To me he kind of creates this bed of sound and out of that comes the song. Pretty creative and artsy.

I agree on Don´t believe and would have to put it at the bottom. The melody line is a little too bland. But Eno sure did create the effect with that drill kind of sound. I can just imagine this kind of hot violent forming ocean and the waves crashing when I hear that drill sound with the percussion.

Wartime prayers is a little too conventional for me and I would rather just not think about the subject when I´m in a mood to relax and listen to good music like Paul Simon.

By the way, Outragous, F&D and Northeast rock. I Love the guitar and killer rythem when he talks about 900 sit ups a day. It just makes the adrenaline flow. I actually thought about trying to do 900 sit ups to see what it would feel like and then thought naw I´ll just have a beer and watch the movie Rocky, but I did consider it.

I cant take to Another Galaxy, its a bit boring ..it was the 2nd song on the F&D single and I was kinda of aware of its monotony when people were in the car and were being introduced to PS´s latest album. Funny though the theme of the song is same as that film which is a sequel to ´THe Graduate" just a coincidence??

BTW what is the 2nd song on the single Outrageous?
