 | This is a reminder/update for those who have been on this site since I first posted a message regarding this idea in mid-June and it is a greeting and invitation to those who are new to the site:
Paul Simon will celebrate his 65th birthday in October. I planned to put together a DVD of greetings from his fans around the globe, but to date I have received exactly ZERO video clips, so... on to plan C (which is better than plan B, which was to forget the whole idea).
I will now accept (hand-written, typed, drawn, printed, or e-mailed) greetings to compile into a book to give to PS on his hallmark birthday. My disclaimer: I don´t know him personally and don´t have special access to him, but will try my best to make sure he receives the parcel. Feel free to write and send whatever you would have said in the video OR to write whatever you wish. You may send in an envelope to me and I will open and place all greetings in one binder or you may send your greeting inside an envelope with the message "To Paul Simon" on it and place that in an envelope to me. If you want me to forward your message in your original inner envelope without opening it, I can certainly do that. Please just place a note in the bigger envelope telling me to leave your greeting sealed. Otherwise (if you don´t mind it being opened), please make sure the paper is no bigger than 8-1/2 inches x 11 inches so I can place all greetings in one common binder.
Send your drawings, pictures, store-bought or hand-made cards, and/or letters to me either via e-mail:
[email protected]
or via postal mail:
Paul Simon´s 65th Birthday
c/o 7710 Westwind Lane
Houston TX 77071
I will include all birthday greetings I receive on and before September 10. (For those who are sending to the U.S. from places where it takes some time for the post to be delivered, please feel free to e-mail the greetings or just e-mail me a message that the greeting is on the way so I´ll wait as long as I can for it before sending the finished compilation on its way).
My thoughts: Don´t worry about being original or having your greeting stand out. Just write what´s in your heart. (But if all you want to say is "Happy Birthday. I Love your music." that´s fine, too. I think PS would like to hear that.
... And, after your signature, it might be nice to include the city, and state/country where you reside, so it´s even more evident that the greetings are being sent from all across the world.
Cheers! |

 | I will definitely doing this. I sent Paul a birthday card for his 60th birthday. I sent it to the Brill Building using the address that was on the back of the envelope they sent me in 1991 with a signed photo. Unfortunately it was returned undelivered. I am hoping that by sending my card to you I will have more luck. |

 | I´ll do the best I can to make sure it gets in his hands.
By the way, my daughter suggested that it may be interesting for people to put their ages on the letters also (maybe after their names, before their residence) to show (1) what a broad age range of people are attracted to PS´s music and (2) that age is really an irrelevant number. I think it´s a super idea, so, everyone, please feel free to do that. |

 | Hi Bonnie
if I send you a pfd-file, can you print it on a color-printer ? or do you prefer to get the printed version by "snail-mail" ?
Thanks for your effort ! |

 | Kuno,
Either way is fine. I can certainly print on a color printer and will happily do so. Feel free to e-mail me whatever you want me to print. |

 | Thanks for organising all of this Bonnie and I really really hope it gets through to Paul!
And a special request for anyone else who might be sending something from Australia (cos i´ve seen a few australian flags on the forum so i presume there are others out there) - could you all make a special point of asking Paul to tour here? I know it probably won´t do much to affect his plans - but just in case such requests might somehow awaken some sort of desire within him to visit again, or at least let him know he still has a fan following here which would Love to see him live? |
