It is definately Lulu. Paul said himself in an interview a few years ago that he and Edie had thought long and hard about wether or not to put her into the video, but then decided, "Why not?"
Besides you there is noway you can miss the fact that she looks just like Paul and Edie!

Seems as if I already have problems with them Nathalie... now another person is writting emails to me saying that this is not Lulu, and she/he knows her personaly and so on... exactly same story as with Adrians friend...
Callista, do you have that interview somewhere, I can not find it. I thought Paul said that at Good morning America in 2003, but that was not this interview.

No one has this interview I guess?

I also can not remember any source - except this forum...or AMPS? Paul said that they had been thinking long if Adrian should sing in that song or not, just a few months ago.
But no word about Lulu.

I think it is really NOT Lulu in that video. Thats an article I found now. It does not say anything about the video... I think that was just some mythos.

´Father and Daughter´ a Simon family affair
Jan. 09, 2003

By Tamara Conniff
The sweet young voice singing harmony
with Paul Simon on his Golden Globe-nominated song "Father and Daughter"
from "The Wild Thornberrys Movie" is his
10-year-Old son, Adrian.
"We were in the car riding along, and I
was working on the song, singing," Simon says. "Adrian started singing
along, and it was so good that I thought it would
be nice to have the feeling of a child´s
voice on it -- so I let him sing a couple of different takes to see what
he would sing. I liked what he sang. It was a very
contemporary kid-pop melody. It´s all his
melodies. He sang the harmony. He´s very pleased to have it on there."
Simon says Adrian is a music natural: "He
got the full complement of his parents´ DNA. He sings like his mother
(Edie Brickell); writes songs; he plays drums
and piano."
"Father and Daughter" pays homage to what
Simon calls "a very special relationship" he has with his 7-year-old
girl, Lulu. "In a way, with Adrian singing, it
balances it out since it´s a song about
my daughter. And my youngest, who is 4 1/2 years old, is not -- yet --
concerned with any of it. So everybody´s happy.
Everybody will get their turn."
Simon also took his toughest critics --
his three youngest children -- to see the movie.
"We took the whole family to see it, my
mother too," Simon says. "And everybody liked it. It was a lot of fun to
do that. The main reason that I took this movie
was to be able to bring the whole family.
I don´t have to say, ´Well, you can´t see that movie, because it´s too
grown-up.´ "
Simon says he´s delighted that the song
is up for a Golden Globe as it´s his first nomination. Simon´s 1968
Grammy-winning score and song for "The Graduate"
was not nominated for a Golden Globe
because he and his then partner Art Garfunkel forgot to fill out and
send in the nomination paperwork.
"We were just kids, we didn´t bother to
fill out the form that we needed to send in. I just forgot," Simon says.
"I was 26 or something and wasn´t paying
attention. I never thought it would have
won anyway. It didn´t even occur to me."
Composing an original song for "The Wild
Thornberrys" is the beginning of much more music from Simon. He´s
considering doing more film work and is in the
throes of writing a new studio album, his
first since 2000´s "You´re The One."
"I think that ´Father and Daughter,´ in
its sound and its straightforwardness, is not unlike the other things
that I´m writing (for the album). I like that, it
feels right. I´m trying to be as simple
as possible and as clear as I can lyrically and keep the rhythm of it
very American. It´s not coming from any other
cultural place."
Simon, an East Coast native, continues to
feel the effects Sept. 11 has had on the nation. "People want a lot of
things now, reassurance and some kind of center
or vision that seems true and right.
Everybody´s searching for that. It´s a very hard time," he says.

Bodo, I am sorry that I did not get back to you sooner. I read about this years ago, so I honestly do not remember WHERE I read it, but I can tell you this:
Before the Academy Awards show for the year it was nominated, on the E! channel, ( I don´t know if you get that there) Paul gave an interview talking about the song, and explaining about the video. He said that he and Edie decided after a lot of thought that it would be okay to put her in the video especially since she (at that time) was a huge fan of The Wild Thornberries. I remember the interview well.
Thats about all I can say on it. Try to find the video. I am sure it is out there somewhere.

I think Paul doesn´t want to mention it a lot in interviews as we know he is very protective with his kids. Maybe we should respect his wishes and leave this subject alone.
A father is even more protective with his daughter.

Yes, I understand what you mean Ans. On the other side - if he is so protective about his daughter I also think he would not show her in a video clip to strangers.

It would be great if we can find that interview from E Channel again.
All info I have at the moment is
a) That interview I posted, which does not mention anything about the video (I always remembered this interview as the story where he is revealing it)
b) A comment from Who Me on AMPS (2002) I found, when someone asks if this is Lulu and he wrote that he also thought the same, but someone else on amps could tell that this was NOT her.
c) And I got 3 or 4 emails from a ´friend´ of Lulu, telling me that it´s not her (does not look like her)...and that she/he even asked her now.

Maybe they have just used a double looking like her

but to keep it quiet he doesn´t talk about it much, maybe just this one time Callista mentions.
If it is Lulu it wouldn´t Surprise me that journalists are not allowed to ask questions or write about her. At least not until Lulu is older. Which is a good thing IMO, Paul is a very responsible dad, not like MJ who hangs his kid outside the window before his fans....how stupid is that!

It could be a double looking but I prefer to think it is Lulu, the song is about a father and his daughter.

I´m sorry, but that child is definatley Lulu. She looks too much like Edie & Paul not to be. And I to, can´t remember where, read it that it was.

As for these emails Bodo, I think they must be bogous. Why would anyone deny that it was Adrian on the album when A: it says it on the album and B: Paul said it himself.

I don´t understand Micky, no one said it was not Adrian on that album. ??

As I said, I have no written source that says this is Lulu. I got only friendly mails from a person who says she knows Lulu, and wrote me that this is not her on the picture (the picture from the videoclip), the girl looks like Lulu, but different. I wrote a few emails back, always got serious answers, then she said that she is going to ask Lulu herself, and the answer was that she is not the girl in that videoclip.

Whatever, as long as I can´t find any real Proof, the info that this is Lulu might not be true.

I also was very sure that I have read that in some interviews, even thought that these articles are uploaded here or on AMPS, but I could not find anything. I realized that often you read a message from someone here, and later you take it for true. Or someone was asking : "Is that Lulu in the videoclip..?", and than it sounds like as if it is true.

I thought someone might have taken a picture from her on the S&G tour, so we can check... but nothing.
