What a wonderful review of the Grand Prairie, Texas concert....I , too, enjoy Paul Siman, the man...how he reacts...what he says....Really cute about Gabriel being in the audience....I wonder if this is the first night he added ´Late In The Evening´?...Just like Toledo was the first night he added ´Bridge Over Troubled Water´..Thank you for taking us along with you to the concert.....

Thank you, Bonnie, for another nice review...Isn´t it great to have been to two PS concerts this tour! I don´t know about you, but I was wiped out emotionally when the second one was over...

Beth,
I did enjoy both concerts. I guess it´s like having a visit from a very dear friend who lives far away: you look so forward to the visit, the anticipation is wonderful, you enjoy the time together, then it´s over too soon, and it´s sad to say goodbye because you don´t know when you´ll see each other again.

Thanks for your reviews. By the way was there a different in the intensity of the performances from one performance to another.

I definitely thought the Houston show was much more casual. It could be just my opinion, or it could be the truth, with several possible reasons:

1) Houston venue was outdoors, Saturday night, hot & humid, casually clothed, beer-drinking (vs. Dallas show Friday night, indoor theatre, air-conditioned, patrons nicely dressed, somewhat more conservative crowd, coming from work)

2) After the Dallas show, musicians knew they needed to perform another show in Houston the following night. (Don´t know what that translates to as far as travel schedule, but either traveling after the performance Fri. night or getting up early to travel Sat. morning to be in Houston to perform that evening. Either way, still a day´s work ahead of them.) After Houston´s show on Saturday, the musicians had a day off performing on Sunday. They may have had to travel Sunday, maybe not. Don´t know. But definitely not another scheduled performance until the following Monday night.

3) I think some of PS´ relatives were in the audience Friday night. That could make his performance more casual or more intense, don´t know. Perhaps he´s so seasoned it doesn´t even make a difference... but I think the lack of family members in the audience one night after they are there the previous night makes some sort of difference, one way or another. Having said that, though, I do think PS may have had some people he knew in the audeince in Houston as well. Heck, he probably knows people in the audience wherever he goes.

4) I think as this scheduled part of the tour is coming to a close (and Jerry Douglas´ part of the tour w/ PS almost wrapped up), the musicians are probably very confident in the way the show plays out and breates a little easier. Not to say anything in the show is less than perfect, just more casual and relaxed.

Nancy, these are just my thoughts, not based on any facts or inside knowledge. I was just looking at body language and listening to the dialog. If you´re talking musical intensity
of the performance, I´m lost! Very musically naive.

Bonnie,I guess I really was asking about the emotional response of the audience to Paul´s songs. I am with you-also very musically naive(but gosh I Love his music). Thanks for your accounts of the concerts. I will be at the Lake Tahoe concert on Sunday-can´t wait!
