 | I´ve been saving some of the tour reviews I´ve been finding on the net and spotted something in this one.
http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=451560
This lovely bit:
"One of the show´s better new tunes was "Father and Daughter," which Paul dedicated to his own daughter after opening with a little story about a mishap with fingerpaint when she was 4. The sense of a rather private man uncharacteristically opening up only enhanced the song´s innate charm."
Did anyone witness that and can they remeber what he said? |

 | I noticed Gumboots mentions it in their review, but it is only a mention. I´m amazed they didn say more. |

 | I think he first mentioned the incident at the Toledo Concert, July 2nd...He did not mention it at the first concert I attended in Columbus, June 28th...To introduce the song, He said that in their kitchen they had a table for fingerpaints...and that when his daughter was about 4 years Old, while he was supposed to be watching her, he was in the other room and his daughter was at the fingerpainting table...then he noticed that it got quiet...so he came in and his daughter had fingerpaints all over her hands, feet, and I think face...And he said that you know you´re not supposed to do that....your mother won´t like that...and then he asked her if she cared that she got paints all over herself...she said no...and he said that well, we have to go to the bathroom and wash it all off...and then she said she cared...and when they got in the bathroom, he asked her if she really cared, and she said, "No". And he chuckled at that.....
I have paraphrased as I don´t remember the exact words...but the impression I was left with was that his daughter has a mind of her own...an individual spirit...and he likes that...gets a kick out of her......and that he really didn´t care either whether she got the fingerpaints all over her..... |

 | That´s pretty much how he said it in Milwaukee also. I don´t think he included the line about her mother. |

 | I think Patata gave us a couple of "quotes/quips" recorded from the Milqaukee show which included this very anecdote. Can´t find it off-hand, but I´m sure you could if you spent a little time on it. |
