Hey everyone
I´m new here and this is my favourite Paul Simon track and i wanna learn how to play it on guitar. Now I was wondering is it all bar chords to get the shuffling reggae rythem.
and does anyone have any tips how to play it. thanks guys

Do you have the "Surprise-CD"?
Maybe you can play along with the CD... it would be easier, because then you have the melodie...

yeah i seen that
but i dont see how u can get the same rythem without bar chords.

The hard thing with this song is you can clearly hear more than one guitar. When I play it, I don´t worry about matching the guitars, I just make it my own. If you choose to make the chords match the beats, bar chords would be your best chance. The trick is to mute the strings when you strum beats 1 and 3, but playing the chords on the "and" of those beats. The muting is gained by slightly lifting your finger so that when strummed, you should just hear the pick against the strings. I hope this helps.
