If I had kids I would always be aware how other parents feel about their kids, therefore i would find invading other countries, sending kids to kill other kids, racism to kids, etc very hard to understand. However I´ve noticed there is a tendancy among parents to feel that once everything is alright for their little johnny then it doesn´t matter what is happening to other little johnnies. Having gone throught my adult life being accused of being selfish for choosing to remain childless i feel the word applies more to those who choose to have kids.
I sincerely hope that that little boy singing You Can Call Me Al never has to go and fight causes to make rich people richer and poor people poorer. Sorry to have to say all that, but its for the childs sake.

Proof ~ Paul and Edie have a nephew who is in Iraq..so I think he is probably singing from the heart. I personally think it´s an amazing song..I can´t express what it means to me.

You have just proven my point... once my child is ok it doesn´t matter about anyone else´s

As a matter of interest enough of what?
WMD ? none found in Iraq
Al Queda terrorists - none in Iraq before they were invaded
Islamic Fundamentalism- Iraq was the most secular country in the middle east
violation of human rights - Iraq did not hold the monopoly on that!!
Maybe you mean not enough - oil!!!

Scaaty, you´re 100% right in my opinion.

But I have the feeling that this is going to be an endless discussion...

Let´s talk about a S&G reunion instead ;o)

what do you read and quote the liberal handbook...Sounds like you spend to much time listening to Michael Moore. As for WMDs they did find some!!! I guess you dont consider 500 war heads loaded with Mustard gas and Sarin WMDs but I do....it just doesnt get reported... http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/6/25/11403

If Iraq diddnt hold the monopoly on Human rights issues they at least had park place and boardwalk. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3320293.stm

ANd Im not even going to comment on the fact that you said there where no terorists in Iraq who do you think the suicide bombers were? BOyscouts?
If you want to blame bush for the instability of the middle east your gonna have a tough time explaining the last 50 years.

Is this not a Paul Simon Site. Politics doesn´t belong here and once again kronsk has folks going on an unrelated subject.

As for the children. Maybe if Bill Clinton would have done something about this 15 years ago instead of sodimizing an 20 year Old intern with a cigar. Bush wouldnt have had to...

I THINK THAT IS ENOUGH OF THIS THREAD! No wonder Paul Simon said there´s no reason to discuss politics, especially in song. People already have their own opinions. Let´s follow his lead and not discuss war on this site, save for that mentioned in his songs.

um, so like I was saying, the songs on You´re The One and Surprise sound good together...

Sorry I don´t like Wartime Prayers, purely a musical opinion not a political statement. Having a "message" doesn´t protect a work from criticism. Everybody settle down...
