Just adding that I do agree with you that he doesn´t need Art in his own songs anymore, his own songs are very distinguishable and stand well on their own. His musical direction has taken a whole different road than that of S&G.

But I would still like to see them tour together again.

The 2003/2004 tour was the Farewell Tour. If you follow the interviews it´s Paul Simon who understands that S&G is over, as he said in his last interview: That´s mission accomplished. Art should understand that too. They are friends again, that´s what matters for Paul Simon.

Nobody knows what the future hold for S&G. Anything is possible. Another tour? Another free concert in Central Park? Nobody knows. Lets just see what happens.

Well according to Paul in the phone interview with John Soeder, not. He doesn´t mention any plans for another tour. Nor does it seem likely in the future.

So I think that interview kind of hit the nail on the head of that rumour...lol

Bodo...

"BTW. Who was that president (Mission accomplished)? Kennedy?"

No...That comment was a referenced tongue in cheek slam of President Bush...after the initial invasion of Iraq...when he stood on the Navy ship and announced "Mission Accomplished".....

And for you information Bodo it wasn´t my fault I couldn´t go, My father died the day before, As if I could sit their and enjoy a S&G concert, Seeing as they were his favourite duo and BOTW was his favourite song and was played at his funeral later that week!
So don´t go saying it´s our fault Bodo!

Garry....

"It would be a terrific goodbye and farewell to the best duo in music history!"

That was already done...twice....2003/2004..and the second was better than the first...(better harmony)...Paul says that it´s "too late for S&G"...Paul is now 64 years Old...he doesn´t write P&G stuff anymore...hasn´t for years...it would be like me going back to my teenage or high school days...long, long gone....Paul has moved on ....more complex....more creative...more mature writing....I am going to take every opportunity to see him...as this may be his last album..possibly his last tour...Am seeing him twice this week...in Columbus and in Toledo...have great seats for both...I am treating this as a possible last hurrah.....I hope I am wrong....

I am sorry to hear of your father´s death, Garry....

The Paul Simon you loved years ago has moved on...and those of us who appreciate his accomplishments as a songwriter..as a poet...as a musician...have moved on with him....and reveled in his accomplishments....

I was lucky enough to go to concerts in both 2003 and 2004 concert tours and I enjoyed it greatly. I thought that I would never see Simon and Garfunkel live on stage together as they split before I was born.

However as the two men have two vastly different tastes in music and Paul Simon is continuing to sound contemporary and experimental that is what I want to hear.

Art Garfunkel once commented that he was happy for that his album was a success all over the world but he could not find his own album in the shops.

He was speaking about Graceland and Animal Christmas in 1986 - but he could be talking about 2006..

Well the bottom line is that Nobody knows if they will tour again or not, except for Paul and Art themselves. Anything can happen.

It seems as if Paul would know that this was the last tour, and Art would know that they tour next year. Maybe they say that to please all fans - LOL.

And also that makes me feel that they have some strange conversations when they meet for lunch from time to time.
