 | I have not seen the movie from Al Gore, but when they say there that the Antarctic is melting then they are idiots and there is absolute no scientific background - absolute right.
But the discussion about climatic changes should have been stopped since 10 or 15 years now - it is absolute clear that human beeings have changed the clima.
The antarctic is not melting because of a change in temperature from -50 to -49.8 Celsius, it even has the opposite effect there at the moment, more water in the atmosphere means more snowfall in the antarctic.
But just count the many weather dessasters from the last 10 years, the stand in no relation to what happenend the last 200 yers before. We had 2 record summers in the last 3 years, records which should statistically only happen every 400 years. Either you have rain all summer, or it never rains like in Spain, Portugal or California. And most of the glaciers in the moderate climatic zones are melting dramatically, although there are even others which are growing (only a small amount)

 | I suppose its better to dismiss global warming as leftie loonie stuff other wise 4x4s on stilts (SUV) for city driving could not be justified - I´ve seen ads that these beauts boast that they do 22mpg. I got rid of my first car in the 80´s cos of having such a high petrol consumption!! I don´t have any kids so what happens in the nxt 50 yrs won´t affect me but if I had a cute little boy who loves Paul Simon music - I´d want him to still have a beautiful earth to share with his children and grandchildren.
Of note this year California had a late spring which was abnormally hot leading to a rapid thaw causing wide spread flooding |

 | Its hard not to dismiss it as leftie loonie stuff. I remember in the 70 hearing all about global "cooling". They told us we where about to enter another ice age.

 | We´re the same Scatty. When I was a kid our winter were winters, not they are more like autumn. So I´m afraid I´m one of those loonies and I´m also a member of Greenpeace, so I´ll keep quite I think :-)
As well as being a vegetarian and a Pagan..oh and a member of Amnesty International. Yep, I´m a total looney!!! |
