 | I was looking at the YouTube website for the Paul Simon video someone was referencing and saw some footage of people "burning" (I can´t stand even writing that) something symboling Paul Simon. Why? I don´t understand that at all. Which brings me to another question, one about a group "protesting" for/against Paul´s CD being released? I have no details, but thought I read it hear somewhere (mentioning that thanks to the protests, the CD actually will be released). Can anyone explain this to me? What country was "boycotting" (if this is the right word) the CD and why? Thanks for giving me insight. |

 | Unfortunately I also took a look of that video days ago.
Really a very bad impression.
I don´t know what it means. |

 | I´ll try to ask some of the Russian people from the fan-database.
All I can understand is ´Paul Simon´ and ´Britania´ ... ?
Do they really mean our Paul Simon? The baseball cap seems to say everything, but what could Paul have done to upset some people in Russia (or wherever that was exactly) |

 | Is their any chance that this could just be some manufactured hype for the forthcoming single of The Russian Futurists entitled Paul Simon. Though I could be wrong.I have been wrong before. |

 | Ok, here is the answer from a native russian
It was said something like that :
"... action of protest of students of Moscow Phys-Tech University. Junior students protested against English course. The matter of fact is that for two years guys have to study texts about Paul Simon, citizen of Great Britain. This name bothered to students so much, that they had made figure of Paul Simon and bombarded it with tomatoes, eggs and beer bottles . And then set it in fire. Thus studends wanted to draw attention of their teachers to differ English educational texts..."
As you may see, no relation to real Paul Simon, just occasional coincidence with textbook´s personage.
End-
Well, anyway it is strange that this puppet was wearing a baseball cap like Paul :-) |

 | I think it is Paul, they just got the Great Britain bit wrong.
Many schools study Paul´s lyrics. |

 | Thanks for all the answers. I´m still not 100% certain I know the answer, but when this group as a whole doesn´t know the answer either, I know I´m not alone. |
