 | Simon will be on the Ken Bruce show, BBC Radio 2.Possibly next week, possibly doing "Tracks Of My Years".The slot in the show is around 11.40 each weekday for a week. Two songs chosen with dialogue in between.Simon´s choices will be interesting.I say possibly because Wogan said Simon "would be starring with Ken Bruce". |

 | Bing, i too am tantalized by the prospect of another Tracks of My Years feature. This may explain the sudden return to the UK, rather than the hokum with Steve Wright. Did you go ga ga about the bulgarian track,Theodora is Dozing,he included last time. If it does take place,i feel Mystery Train might be there again. |

 | Don´t get too excited Simon, Tracks of My Years are always pre-recorded. To be honest I think the Steve Wright one was probably recorded too. |

 | A note about the Steve Wright interview. There was some long-standing bad feeling from Wright in the run up to this interview.During the same program he had a "third party" dig at Simon by way of some made up listener to the program pointing out that "Paul Simon was privilaged to be interviewed on this show" (use the listen again to get the very acid and churlish way this was done). This goes back to the last S&G world tour when Radio 2 wanted S&G for an interview but were told that they were only doing one official interview (which they did and we have heard)for US radio and that Radio 2,Wright,I assume, could go to America and interview them both individually.Radio 2 refused to do this. This had obviously left Wright feeling a bit miffed and therefore he tried to take the rise out of Simon.Great to see that Paul had the measure of Wright from the word go!He quickly gave as good as he got and came out on top.In his typical dry humoured way he totally made Wright sound a fool, playing the whole interview in a mock aloof manner.I had bought the album the night before and found it hard to get into but after this interview I put it on and listened with more intensity based on the fact that Simon had, by handling this idiot like he did, promoted his album in a way that almost made you want to cheer him on even more than if he had been interviewed by a "knowledgable" person and given a serious breakdown of each track.Paul sold himself as one who can stand up and handle himself. |

 | Thanks for that Bing. I hadn´t noticed that myself, it seemed a cheery and fun interview; but I have only managed to listen to it once. |

 | Yes, Micky, there was a pre-meditaded undercurrent of sarcasm, put downs and an intention to try to be derogatory to Simon. Not to worry though....as Paul said on the South African tour "This is amateur hour"! |

 | Well Bing, I´ve listend to the interview and I´m not really sure what you´re talking about. Maybe it´s the English humour, but I don´t see anything wrong with the interview and Paul was having a great time.
Maybe you could elaborate on what you felt was wrong? |

 | Yes, I really don´t get it.
I personally thought Paul was having a great time when he was laughing about how Wright called the song "Father and Son" etc. I didn´t sense any undercurrents that were remotely weird or negative in the interview.
It would good if you could elaborate Bing...I am now toteally intruiged! :D |

 | The confusion surrounding this interview stems from the fact that Steve Wright has not totally shed his Radio 1 persona where Paul Simon was often referred to as "not a radio 1 personality". Wright has blended uneasily into the new radio 2 format, but there was still a hangover from his R1 Days, and the interview with Paul, hardly a meeting of minds , was a mis match which came over awkwardly. Thankfully Paul was relaxed and, ever the pro , entered into the spirit of things whilst always maintaining his control of the situation. |
