 | Excuse this question for it may be a little dumb but I´ve been pondering something for the last couple of days...
Is there a difference between being a Paul Simon fan and a Simon & Garfunkel fan? Are they one and the same thing or can there be people who Love Paul Simon but dislike Simon & Garfunkel.
The reason I ask this is because I have read a number of reviews of "Surprise" that take the standpoint that the style of music on the album is nothing like Paul Simon has done before. Then they refer to Simon and Garfunkel...
Am I right in saying that those who think of Paul as one half of Simon and Garfunkel will (though they are fans) like this album less?

 | Possibly. I´m a huge fan of S&G and an even bigger fan of Simons solo work. |

 | I Love S&G´s stuff. I´m not a fan of the group, however, because in my mind they don´t really exist anymore. I don´t count reunion tours. I might go to a high school reunion, but that doesn´t mean I´m in high school again! I am a fan of Paul Simon, because he´s still making music. Although I always wonder between albums if he´ll stop recording too. I´d like to stay a fan if possible! |

 | Well, there is a big difference between the music of S&G and PS solo and then AG - don´t you think?
I think it is even possible to be only a fan of P.S. because you like one album (most of the time this is Graceland), because he is so different on every new project. |

 | About your last point, I think thats right Sumit - not all people who are S&G fans in first will like ´Surprise´.. there are even many PS fans who do not like that new sound (although they buy the album) |

 | When you think about it, Paul stopped writing and thinking of writing music for S&G 35 years or so ago....we still revel in the past and how the two sounded together...It is possible to be a fan of S&G...I am...but that is nostalgic.....Even when they had their "Old Friends" Tour I and II, there was nothing new...just taking us back to the days of yore...which was fun...But Paul has basically been writing and evolving by himself since "Hearts And Bones" album....and I have evolved and grown with him.... I do not follow Artie...It is Paul´s music I Love...whether he is alone or in the past with Artie...... |
