 | Hello all,
Im pretty new to this site, but Im such a huge Paul Simon fan. It started with just listening to Simon and Garfunkel, but I expanded my collection and now I Love Paul´s solo work! Anyways, to the meat of this post. I´ve been reading lots about Paul and Art´s relationship and how they have settled their disputes are now the closest of friends. I almost cried when I read that. It´s so great! I love those guys! Anyways, what do you all think the chances are of the two doing another tour in the future? I remember reading an interview Art did saying that they may tour in 2007 to commemorate their 50th Anniversary of knowing each other. That would be just so amazing. I was wondering if some of you could give me some input about what you all think could happen? Thanks a lot!! |

 | Interesting thought. Uptill now, I would very much have doubted the prospect of a S&G tour after what already took place; now however, listening tp Paul especially, I am not so sure...
As to whether a Simon and Garfunkel tour would be worthwhile, UNLESS they release a new album (which once again seems a "possibility"), I don´t see too much point in it...

 | I was fairly sceptical about it as well. I had read an interview back in March that had Artie had where he said he would Love to do another tour and release another album and I thought it was awesome, but if Paul wasn´t on board, I didn´t see it happening. Now, after reading Paul´s interview, it seems a lot more likely that something could happen with Simon and Garfunkel once more! |

 | I´m a little skeptical as well. Didn´t Paul say that the OF tour would be the last time something like that ever happened? Of course, I would Love for it to happen, as I started out listening to S&G as well, and then branched into Paul´s solo work....and now these interviews say that they´re not over yet...so I don´t know. It would be pretty cool if it happened again. |

 | To reach all fans they must tour till 2116 I guess. Why did you not take the chance in 2003 or 2004? |

 | I am quite sure that this won`t happen.
And glad. When I think about the fact, that Paul Simon was working, with remarkable result, on his new album, I ask myself, how could he do these rather boring tours in 2003/2004 in the meantime.
Only possible for very professional musicians. |

 | "We had a great ride... And we were friends since we were 11. Then we had famous falling outs. But they were nothing really. We made it up the last time that we were around. We´ll be, you know, we´re going down to the end together."
So how do you understand this? Not that I need another S&G tour/album or anything but it sounds more likely than ever :o |

 | I don´t think there will be another S&G Tour...but I wouldn´t be surprised if they did another big concert together.....Like Central Park....
Paul is too creative to repeat the Old Friends Tour....which was actually done twice.....caught them both times...the second even more fabulous than the first... buy the DVD if you missed them...You won´t see another S&G Tour..... |

 | I don´t see any reason for Paul and Art to not make another album. What have they got to lose? Millions upon millions of people Love their music. Putting out one last album and doing would be such a treat for all their fans. They love performing and singing together, so why not make a new album? As Paul said in his interview, the two of them will be going down together in the end. The fact that he said that makes it quite clear that there is something in the works already, or will be after Paul is finished his "Suprise" tour. And should they make a new album and have it be their last together, it would be an amazing farewell to all of their fans. |

 | Incredible what people can read in one sentence.... S&G are still in the studio and record eh?
For me - as a not native english speaker, this just means: "We always will be friends, till our last day"
And Kory - what do you think a new S&G album should mean for Paul? Why should he do that? He is soooo far away with his music from S&G, he made around 10 big developments since that time. Even now when people expected (and some were praising for) that he will make music like in the 70´s only with his guitar, Paul came up with a total new style and electronic sounds. Do you really think he will be doing another ´Boxer, Mrs. Robinson again, simply 3 chord songs only with his guitar´? (I would hate him if he would do such a cheap step). Or can you imagine Art singin on an album like ´Surprise´ ??
Paul is a very slow writer, he needs years to make a new album. Today he would not be happy with a result like ´Bookends´ IMO. He also wants no one to have too much input on his music, he is the head, he wants to decide everything (Brian Eno is always known as the producer of every project he does - but not with Paul Simon, Paul is still the producer of his work). I can´t imagine how he ever would go back with Art and Roy (who is still waiting for his last big project...) and let them decide what will be on the album and what not. |

 | Also Paul & Artie have now sorted things out, and are now in their second friendship, so to speak. I think it´s unlikely Paul´s going to put that in jepardy. The friendship matters far more than a new S&G album IMO. |

 | Thats a good point Micky. I also think that working in studio, having many discussions and compromises would only destroy their friendship again. |

 | Not that I need another S&G album but how come you think that it would be songs with only three chords again? He could write more complicated songs for S&G. There´s not necessarily a connection between simplicity and S&G...
Anyway, if future S&G collaborations turn out like their last tour (same setlist and same dull jokes every night, besides that band killed the songs imho)I can do without it. I rather listen to my bootlegs... |
