Surprise is No. 28 in the Netherlands (after 22 in the first week).

Hey Ans & Co., do something! Think about all your friends, you will need a christmas gift soon.

When I saw "Surprise" at n° 34 of http://www.musicaedischi.it , I thought that they were speaking about italian chart. But I could be wrong...

Well, you can win the album at Radio 2. The question to win it is too easy...;-) (scroll down)

http://www.radio2.nl/

So to all Dutch fans, if we all response it may get more airplay.

Unfortunately "Surprise" dropped from No. 14 to 24 at Billboard USA in the second week.

This is really sad.

Surprise is No. 70 in Switzerland (after 55) in the second week. Hey you Swiss guys, only thinking about money?

No. 12 in Denmark (after 13). Would be nice there were more Danish people.

No 31 in Canada (after 32). Hm...

Entered the Italian charts at No. 21 in the first week. Ok.

In France it still did not arrive, but there is a "Emilie Simon", related to him? We know he was there and slept under the bridges. Maybe this wasn`t all he did there...

Hi
my first message, but I´ve been visiting this site for years. According to http://allcharts.org/music/world/albums.htm SURPRISE was worldwide number 20 on may 20 2006. Thats very good, I think, because we must mot forget that it wasn´t released in big European countries like Germany, UK, France at that time

Thank you very much, Matthias, for this interesting link. I am also glad that Neil Young`s "Living with war" is not in. I admire him, saw him in Hamburg about two years ago. Good piano-player and great guitarist (better than Simon, I think). But making an album about such an important theme within 14 days is "Outrageous".-

No Ans, it is not the Soccer. Surprise is available here since Wednesday (I got a message then that they shipped it to me). Gave away my own ones from Holland.

Nikki, Paul Simon himself said he had such experiences in Paris in 1965.

Ok, how does that work.. When I look trough these lists I can not find the album in any top 20 list (USA,Canada, Europe...any country)
But worldwide it was number 20 ? Did the people in China buy all the CDs ? :-)

Yes that IS perhaps a little strange. How is that world list calculated? Is it pure sale or some kind of weighted average based on the national lists? Well, either way it is of course possible to be a worldwide number 20, without being on any national top 20 lists.
And, BTW, you are not entirely correct, Bodo. The very important countries of Denmark, Sweden and Norway has it as number 12, 19 and 20, respectively! :-)

Why not. In the national charts there are a lot of national acts that sell only in their country (I don´t imagine e.g. Tokio Hotel sells a lot outside Germany). So if someone sells everywhere, he has a chance of getting much higher than in the national charts.
