 | I found this little snippet on a web site...rather interesting. It appeared at the end of an article about Baxter Dury, son of Ian from the band Ian Dury and The Blockheads.
Here it is...
Harper Simon
The missing link between all dodgy rock progeny anywhere. The son of Paul Simon and Peggy Harper, he has collaborated (predictably) with young James Garfunkel to less than rapturous reviews. He also plays with Sean and Yoko in the bars of New York, in a strange confederacy of the Children of Rock. Although described in his father´s biogs as a guitarist, he has had little impact on the charts. Last year he was arrested for smoking gear while his father played a charity concert.

 | There are so many people out there that are sure, if someone is not in the charts, his music must be bad or he is not talented at all.
I am surely not the one to jugde on Harpers abilities as a musician - I just don´t know very much of his stuff, but I definetly think its annoying, that the qualtity of the music is only measred by sales. And if it does not sell well, it is crap.
It´s the same as in lots of the reviews about Surprise, that people call the Capeman and YTO bad, because they did not sale as good as other CDs. I will never understand that. |
