 | Paul appeared with his band this morning during the last 20 minute segment of the show.... He wore blue jeans, a purple 3/4 sleeved tee, no hat, his hair a bit longer than usual in the back....no coloring of "mud"....
Diane Sawyer introduced him as the "Great Paul Simon"....He sang "Outrageous"....Then Diane asked him why "Surprise" as the title of his album...He said it´s a cliche but to be this age...singing this long...everything is a state of surprise.....Diane asked him about New Orleans....Paul said the destruction is an American tragedy...and his most vidid image is the 5 miles of abondoned cars on the highway....that we can´t forget the city....
Then he sang "Graceland"...rather casually...not always using the words as we have memorized....am not sure on purpose or not; for instance, he sang, "My traveling companion is ghosts in every socket"...
Then all the guests were together at the end of the show...and Paul wished his mother and his wife, Edie, and all the moms a Happy Mothers´ Day...... |

 | In response to the lyric in Graceland that Paul sang differently, I watched an interview with Paul and he was listening to Graceland and giving comments on it, and he had said "and my traveling companions are ghosts and empty sockets Im looking at ghosts and empties" was the only line he didn´t like and was the only line in the song he would re-write. |

 | The interview is actually from a DVD. He did an edition of a show called "Classic Albums". His album "Graceland was featured and he talks about a few of the songs on the album and what he thinks about them. It´s a really neat DVD. I highly recommend picking it up. |
