 | Looks as though amazon.co.uk have got it right and the UK release of ´Surprise´ has been put back to 05.06.06.... ´Q´ magazine are reviewing it next month (rather than in the May issue). Maybe there´s some promo work planned in the UK (he did Parkinson last time - but that was well after the release of YTO).
Now I just have to work out how to get hold of the CD on May 9th... Any bright ideas - could order it from amazon.com but shipping is expensive (to get it before June). It´ll only be available on the US iTunes - which you can´t use from the UK without a US bank account... Help!!!!!!!!!!!! |

 | Hm, I don´t know. It seems as if most European based sellers have pushed the release date to June :(
That includes cd-wow where I preordered (on Bodo´s recomendation I might add ;-) ). I´m not gonna wait till June to get this in hand. Unfortunately I don´t seem to be able to cancel my preorder at cd-wow. Bodo, do you know if that´s possible (it should be, now that they delayed the release date by four weeks)?
Yes, amazon.com or another US based dealer is an option, but it will be expensive.
Still, http://www.cdon.com still has it listed for May 10th. It´s a scandinavian based seller, but they ship to all of EU. They are not cheap, however, and there is no guarantee, that they too, won´t change the date one of these days.
My local record store told me yesterday that they should have it on monday, but added thgat they didn´t have it yet and that Warner has a history of not always being quite on time.
He obviously hoped very much that they would have it on monday, and I believe they will, so I guess I will just go and buy it and deal with my preorder later... |

 | At http://www.nl.bol.com it´s dated May 7th and they ship to almost any country in the world. The price is far from great, but if their delivery date is correct we could have it by monday or tuesday.
However, the german and switz bol shop has it dated May 26th (like amazon.de). So it might be that the NL shop just haven´t updated, or is there really a different release date in the Netherlands?
The UK link from bol.com is to a book store that doesn´t have the album at all. Also, the Italy bol store doesn´t have it.
A bit frustrating with all these different release dates, if you ask me.
It will be really interesting to see if the record stores here in Denmark will actually have the album for sale this monday... |

 | Hey Paul, your record company is still messing around postponing the release of your new record at the very moment when it is becoming available for illegal download all over the internet. This doesn´t look as if Warners are going to be competent at making a hit out of a difficult record. It doesn´t even look as if they´re very confident about the record. |

 | I can wait now...
These different release dates are nerving, if the music industry wouldn´t be ruled by idiots then they wouldn´t have to cry because of lower sales.
It shouldn´t be a big problem to release a CD worldwide on the very same day. |

 | I couldn´t agree more. What have the dutch and switz people done to deserve having it already now? ;-) And, more importantly, what have the british done to deserve having to wait till June!? |

 | Whenever the album is released in the U.K. BBC radio 2 has finally got round to doing some promotion work. They are currently running a competition to win two free tickets to see PAUL SIMON live in an intimate setting in London on the night of Thursday May 25.More importantly the concert will be broadcast by the station. On alesser note FATHER and DAUGHTER has been played all week on the network , proclaimed as pauls NEW SINGLE, release date given as May 29. |

 | Hurricane, now, we know there will be an intimate concert on next May 25 in London. And I think that´s why they have postponed the release of the album. I have pre-ordered mine a long time ago on amazon-UK (release was May 9th). So, if I find this CD in France, next week, I will cancel my pre-order. A strange way of markieting for me.... I totally agree with you Bodo. |
