Our world is becoming more ugly every day, and this is one of the next steps.
I have to say I hate it, I really hate it. Dutch people should not buy anything from this company.

 | I don´t get it either?????? We have people that cmpete in boxing with tatoos on their backs but there is something wrong with putting an advertising blanket on a sheep? What have I missed? Is this somethi so horrible I should check my IQ? Have I missed out on political correctness somewhere? |

 | If some idiot puts an tatoo with advertising on his body than this is his own decission.
But an animal is not an advertising wall, this looks ugly, I don´t want to live in a world where everything is just full of ugly and idiotic advertisements. I want nature. In the mountains they start to put big advertisements onto our glaciers (I´m happy this has been stopped 24 hours later) -Big means a few thousand m².
These marketing people think they are all genious and that they are so creative, but they only make idiotic things. I what world should your children grew up, in a world where they think that every sheep has written "McDonalds" on it, and on mountains are big bannes with "Coca Cola". ??? Beautiful ?
And do you know the really IDIOTIC point in that story? I´ll tell you - the law in the netherlands doesn´t allow advertisements next to the street, so this company now has to pay a fine of 1000 Euros per day because it is illegal, BUT that doesn´t matter because all the consumers who can not use their brain are now visiting the website of this company and buy products there.
The law is useless, the market controls everything. The law also says you are not allowed to buy children, but people are doing it.
I find it pervers to let an animal run around with some advertising, we eat them, we kill them, we make make-up and what else off their body´s, we control every step these animals are making, and now we use them for advertising. Very funny.
For 1 day these animals should control us, and put a big "Microsoft.com" banner around your head.
You don´t have to check your IQ, but you should think 1 or 2 steps forward. People never think forward - how far do you think are the USA away from a total monitoring system, now after the Bush administration has installed all these new laws? Another story.

 | Bodo-- Even though this thread risks some controversy, thank you for actually showing you care about our world. I totally agree with you, especially as to our disrespect for the globe and the other living inhabitants. I wish that putting ads on sheep was the worst that we do, however, our species seems to think it is our right to exploit, maim, torture and otherwise degrade every other form of nature.
Tying this thread back to Paul Simon, he notes in Outrageous that the food served in schools is outrageous. At least in the US, since the schools have no money (we prefer to spend our money killing people, thank you), they want to serve the poison known as fast food there, so they can make money off of it. The market does rule, so on the bright side, let´s hope Surprise is a best seller...!

 | Hi Richard.
I know a little bit about the food on US-schools, and you know why? Because of the Simpsons :-)
But there have been made some efforts (from what I have heard) in a few schools now, and their special projects could work in every school. (I am just happy that we do not have to eat our lunch at school in my country...not now...but maybe in a few years when the staate has to take the total control how children grew up, because the parents are not able to do that. I know emancipitation is a thing that has had to be done, but a mother should also be able to cook a meal for her children. |

 | We had a similar problem, here in the UK, where our children where being served revolting food that what very hight in salt, fat and sugars....yuk, because out government would spend that little bit extra on healthier options.
But thanks to Jamie Oliver, a celebrity cook who was disgusted with what was being served and did a series about it and took one school under his wing and showed what you could do with little money...brilliant. Now school dinners are improving greatly.
Personally I think McDonalds, Burger King and the like should be given a swift boot up the rear and closed. They´re damaging the health of our children and the environment with it.
Ooooh....I think I´ll stop...lol
SO, I was listening to those samplers of Pauls new songs and I think they´re brilliant.... |

 | I´m so glad I pack my lunches with real food because the stuff they call "food" at my school is crap. And we´re a Catholic school! Chargin $11,000 a year and we can´t afford somewhat healthy food. |

 | I am appalled as anyone at the lack of respect for all species on our planet. The list of things that we as people do that is disturbing could go on for volumes.
We banned roadside billboards many years ago in my state. We even banned styrofoam cups in a nearby town and forced McDonalds to restore an Old hom with no arches and no drive through if they wanted a restaurant.
I am an animal lover but I see no conflict with using animals for advertising. I even brought my English parakeet to a car show and put him on top of my car for three days in a shopping mall. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of small kids and , believe it or not, elderly ladies who seemed very attracted to him. he had a great time and increased to traffic to my car which increased my odds of gaining business.
BTW: My bird has also been to Canada and helped our Rotary District raise funds to help support an Aids hospice we built in South Africa.
I am a capitalist. I do not have a problem with corporations making money but I do not like to see our world corrupted and for every marketing person coming up with a perverse option, there is a CEO who has provided inspiration and incentive. |
