I was going to post my thoughts last week after listening 3/4 times to the 3 new songs. I have to admit that at first I was not impressed with the songs. I am a PS/SG fan from London and first saw Paul in 1964. I think his voice is good and the production by Brian Eno is first class and it goes without saying that the musicians are brilliant.

Anyhow, I thought I would leave it a few days before playing the songs again. I played them again and I now really like the new songs. Perhaps its my age (54) but it has taken me about 15 plays to get to like the songs and understand what they are about. I have now listened to the other songs via this link http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/hnum/4652

I think this is Paul´s best work since Graceland and it will be interesting to see if the new album charts.

Hope its ok to give my daughter Francesca Berlin a plug. Her debut single is released in England in June/July (offical date to be announced shortly). Francesca has written a song about the late Eva Cassidy and its called ´COLOURS FADED´. Its a brilliant song!!

A 50 second preview is on her website

or you can email me for MP3 Preview of ´COLOURS FADED´ at [email protected]
Incidently Francesca has a gig at Hermit Club in Brentwood where Paul Simon made his first appearance in London back in 1964.

Right ! It doesn´t sound like Paul at all ! Very interesting :-).
The other songs seem much more classical. I thought the whole album would be much more different finally, with the Eno´s touch. I´m a bit disappointed but I will wait to be able to listen to all the songs before making any real judgment.
