 | Hiya Everyone,
I was listening to Hearts & Bones yesterday and I just can´t imagine Art Garfunkel adding harmonies to any of the tracks. There is a roughness and speed about them that just wouldn´t suit Garfunkel´s voice. But yet we know he did do some recording for them because it was originally planned to be a Simon & Garfunkel album???? (Damn I wish I could get hold of ALL the stuff they did together from that album)
But then this morning I was listening to Duncan and thought this would be suitable for Garfunkel´s voice, (Perhaps because of its similarity musically to The Boxer). The same could be said of Under African Skies, and we know how good Art sounds on American Tune. So it got me wondering which of Simon´s solo work would you like to hear Artie do with him???
(Try not to let natural bias against Simon & Garfunkel reforming tint your judgement :-P. I ain´t saying they should reform, or make another S&G album) |

 | At the moment I can´t think of a song I would like Artie to sing with at all!? Paul´s songs are mostly too ´rough´ for his voice in my opinion, yes. |

 | I think all of the Paul-solo songs that they did together in the OF shows were great for art´s voice. And Paul said it himself that slip slidin and American Tune were great when Art sang them. |

 | Actually someone gave it to me, trading it for a copy of Back to College. I think I can convert the songs into mp3s and send some by e-mail. |

 | Neck of My Guitar would make a great S&G song. I think the harmonies in the chorus would add a sense of breadth to it that is somehow not in the original. It is one that I wish he would perform live, too... |

 | Artie´s voice works wonderfully on American Tune and Slip Sliding Away, but in my opinion, that´s only because they´re what i´d call soft pretty songs. I don´t think that artie would do anything for Duncan though. Even Paul´s voice on the original studio recording is too sweet as it is, so I don´t think artie should be brought in to double that effect. On the contrary, i think Duncan needs something a bit more husky, more conversational. the live versions are much better. |
