 | Hi, has anyone ever seen that movie?
It starts with the famous drums of ´The Obvious Child´, but then the song turns out to be a cover version with complete other lyrics and also music.
Anyone ever heard that? |

 | The lyrics to that song
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don´t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I Love,
Don´t fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin´ breeze,
listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don´t fence me in.
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my Old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
I can´t look at hobbles and I can´t stand fences
Don´t fence me in.
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies,
Don´t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don´t fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin´ breeze
listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don´t fence me in
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
I can´t look at hobbles and I can´t stand fences
Don´t..... fence me in.

 | I saw the beginning of that movie some days ago and thought exactly the same. It starts like "Obvious child" and turns out as something completely different. |

 | Well, either he has taken the drums from Pauls song, or Olodum plays the same music for different artists.
AFAIK Paul does not have any copyrights on that sound.
The drums are the same, except at some points it sounds a little bit different. |

 | Thank you Bodo. Since it is without the trumpets or horns, Simon certainly has no copyright on this.
By the way, the recording-experiment he made in the street of Bahia was a flop in my eyes. The sound is poor.
If this group had been recorded in a good studio, their sound would really have been extraordinary, as Simon stated.
Even on the CP 91-record it is better than on ROTS. |

 | The drums from the beginning of The Obvious Child is a traditional arrangement from brazil. Its present in a lot of that type of music. I think. |
