Hello, Has anyone ever seen the promo videos made for "Hazy shade of Winter" and "I Am A Rock" circa 1966? Hazy Shade of Winter has Paul and Art miming to the song while wallking through the snow. It is extremely cool!

Can these promo videos been seen on any particular DVD or VHS or is it just random footage that some has to have saved from years ago?

Regarding S&G video, there are some non commerical (bootleg) DVD´s available out there on the web with rare Simon & garfukel TV footage. Not all TV footage is still available from approximatley 15 1960´s S&G TV appearances but some notable ones include "Sing Out" a TV appearance from Canada circa 1965 in which they play live 5 songs, Holland TV circa 1966, in which they play live about 6 songs including "A Poem On The Underground Wall"(awesome), "Sounds Of Silence" from Hollywood A Go Go 1965, "Sounds of Silence" from Shivaree -UK TV show 1965, "Homeward Bound" (mimed)from Hullabaloo 1966, "I Am A Rock" (mimed), from Ed Sullivan show circa 1966, "I am a rock" from Ready Steady Go 1966 -UK TV show, and "59th Street Bridge Song" (Feeling Groovy), "Cloudy" -mimed, "Homeward Bound" , an "Overs" from the two Smothers Brothers shows 1967 & 1968. S&G appeared on the Fred Astiare show in 1967 and sang "Scarborough fair", "America", and "Punky´s Dilema". S&G also sang "Scarborough fair", "Mrs Robinson", and, "Old Friends" on the Andy Williams show 1968. There is also the 1969 TV show they produced "Songs of America" The fairly new S&G "Old Friends" Tour DVD 2005 has some of the footage from "Songs of America" as a bonus. There are also the promo videos for "I am a Rock" and "Hazy Shade of Winter" which are very rare. The Ed Sullivan appearance of "I am a Rock" is also very rare. Non of the dozens of commercial Ed Sullivan DVD´s currently available for sale have the S&G clip. Must be a licensing issue or something. There is a great Simon & Garfunkel site where you used to be able to watch several rare streaming videos including the Hazy Shade of Winter video clip. Unfortunatley, the cite has not been updated for several years and I can´t get any of the videos to play as the media player appears to be outdated. You can check it out at http://www.ckk.chalmers.se/guitar/vivo/sg.html If anyone knows how to get these videos to play please let me know.

Cheers!
Karl T.

If you want to download these files, use your web browser...
Right click on the page to view the source code of the page... You´ll find the link with the viv file. It will be incomplete - just like that -
tv-shows/hazy.shade1.viv...
-
Just copy the text below to complete the url and you can download...
http://www.ckk.chalmers.se/guitar/vivo/
For playing I can recommend you VivoStatic 3.0, but it´s shareware...

Richard, thanks for the info although so far no luck getting any of the videos on that page to play. I´ve downloaded the Vivo Static player as you suggested. I go to the page with the Hazy shade of winter video and right click. I get a pop up menu with source being one of the options. I click that but nothing happens that I can see. I´ve tried to copy the http address of the page with Hazy shade of winter right into the Vivostatic player - Menu - (open ULR stream)and get a message "only vivo files can be streamed from the internet. Any other suggestions? Also, as it appears that the webmaster feels this topic is non appropriate (I don´t know why), If you could contact me at my email address I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again
Karl

I don´t think the Ed Sullivan "I Am A Rock" is lip-synched. The band sounds almost like the record but it definitely sounds like a band to me and not the recording.

The sang only 2 Songs on the Fred Astaire Show not 3 Songs!

Setlist:
Punky´s Dilemma (S&G with Fred Astaire)
Eleanor Rigby (S&G with Barrie Chase and Male Dancers) COVER VERSION!
