 | Most disturbing is the album title itself... How can the creator of Graceland, Hearts And Bones and You´re The One sign himself under something like "Surprise"? I still can´t believe it.... |

 | I often use the line "That´s Me", and was thinking of writing a song with the same name. But seems like Paul got berfore me.. |

 | Just wait for the album to come out. It will Surprise you, I am sure. Love or You´re The One were banal titles that tackled the subject from an unexpected angle. He knows how to work with cliches, and present them in a new light. It´s the master at work, there. |

 | Yes, I cannot believe the critical analysis of the album name and song titles.
Neil Diamond just came out with an album called "12 songs". That is a boring title and yet got RAVE reviews! |

 | Dave, I think even if you have been born 30 years ago you will be too late.
Bands who wrote a song called
THATS ME
Genesis
Abba
Dark Lotus
Cam´ron
Martina McBride
Tara McLean
George Strait
Magic (well he has really the best refrain I could think of, I wonder if Paul can top that :-)
That´s Me motherfucker that´s me (Who that is be with P?)
That´s me motherfucker that´s me (Who that is be with C?)
That´s me motherfucker that´s me
I´m the one they call Mr. fucking Magic
And Jennifer Lopez had a good variation:
Thats NOT Me :-)
While Tim MCCraw and Gwen Stefanie are a little bit egoistic and so sang: Thats JUST Me
And our beloved Enerprise captain Kirk, William Shatner who tried to start a music career sang:
Thats me TRYING (exactly the truth)

 | Yes, Neil Diamond is boring, but he knows that. In an interview he answered, how he sees himself compared to Paul Simon:
"Uh, he is the standard of excellence. His audience always was much more intellectual and hipper than mine. He is also a talented guitar-player, which I`m not".
So, this guy made his way and money, and did not suffer from his self-estimation like John Denver. (And sometimes, Paul Simon).
Besides, I hope and am sure that Simon will not make clear political or "actual" statements on the album. I hate prominent people using their popularity, which came from other sources of life, to make such statements. It`s unfair.
Boring Simon-titles in the past:
I Do It For Your Love
Have A Good Time
Something So Right
Tenderness
American Tune
Was A Sunny Day
Can I forgive him
Sunday afternoon
Satin summer nights
Nobody
Long,long day
Late In The Evening
Cars Are Cars
Peace Like A River
Congratulations
You`re the one
Love
She Moves On
I Know What I Know
Under African Skies
Homeless

 | Hey Klausi,
Nice list of boringly titled tracks. Most (if not all) are fantastic songs musically. I kno its easy to get carried away as its the only scrap of information we´ve had on an album that is taking FOREVER to come out. But lets not forget that what matters is what the songs sound like, not what they are called!! Somehow, I doubt Paul Simon is gona let us down on the musical front! |

 | "Peace Like A River" is a sentance which gives me the shivers everytime I hear it... |

 | I think the music will be the most important thing, not the titles, although some of those titles aren´t too bad.
P.S - I LOVE ´Love,´ it´s become one of my alltime favourite Paul Simon songs.
´Surprise´ is quite a fun name I think, because it doesn´t seem like any other album title he´s done before. It´s quite an intriguing word, that can be taken different ways, which is cool. For me, it´s a better title than ´There Goes Rhymin´ Simon!´ |

 | Thank you, Bluesmoke, you are probably right, Peace Like A River is not boring, I just wanted to name another song from his album "Paul Simon", which is, as Tim/Brie said, as boring a title as "There goes rhymin` Simon".
But for albums after Simon and Garfunkel I think both advertising titles are ok. |

 | Hm, he definitely shows us, that he still can make something new and "surprising"... It seems to be his intention to use such titles. And I believe that Surprise is going to be a good one ;) |

 | as for the song titled THAT´S ME, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys wrote a song called "THAT´S NOT ME" (on the Pet Sounds album, 1966) - we know that Paul and Brian have become good friends in the past few years, so maybe that song is a possible influence |
