Hi all,
since making fun about AG is one of our favourite hobbies, I just came up with the idea to list up ten reasons why Art is so annoying ;-) Tell me why he really gets on your nerves!

Here are my suggestions what makes Art so annoying:

- he always seems to feel groovy
- the way he stares at Paul during "Me & Julio" during Central Park 81...
- he really grins like a cheshire cat
- his hair!
- he was a maths teacher
- the faces he makes when he sings high notes

Hmm, only 6 so far...But I will think about some more ;-)

Ah ah ah, great, i wouldn´t have thought about the fact he was a Maths teacher as a reason of dislike AG but you´re right: i have always hate Maths and some of my Maths teachers...:-)
But my first reason is: his voice especially in his solo songs: it REALLY gets on my nerves!!!

Is that really his hair? I saw a photo of him off stage and he was completely bald on top.

Ok Miriam, let´s play ! :-) I put the reasons here how they come :
First reason : on stage and in his albums, he really seems too sluggish for me (you sometimes want to check him up to wake him up ! I do prefer more excited people :-)).
2nd reason (that goes with the 1st one): his songs are soooo boring !!
3rd one : I´m sure he´s the one who has forced Paul to play with him again :-)
4th one : sometimes I can´t bare his voice
5th one : the way he plays with hands during the concert in CP (doesn´t know what to do with them :-))
6th one : he´s not a real musician : can´t even play any instrument nor writting any song.
7th one : on stage, he makes Paul looking shorter than he really is (well I know Paul´s very short but if Art was too, the illusion would be perfect ! :-))
8th one : still wants to make us believe he´s still young having a baby at more than 60 years Old and smoking joints in his car
9th one : "Paul Simon ? Who´s that ? Ah !, ok !, the one who was with Garfunkel !!" No comment...
10th one : I do too hate maths and most of maths teachers :-).

People, people. Why do we have to go down this road again?
I know this is a Paul Simon fan site and of course people can write whatever they want about AG at this forum. However, as recent events in my country shows quite clearly (ALL other comparisons aside!), there is no reason to offend people, just because you can!
I know this thread is meant as a joke and purely as fun entertainment for the Paul Simon fans while waiting for the new album, BUT I´m sure some of the comments above will greatly hurt the feelings of the true AG fans that, for obvious reasons, also frequently attends this site - and I just don´t see the point...
I´m personally not crazy about AG either and absolutely Love that this is a site mostly for the PS solo fans. I also see that AG has a few comical fetaures (as do Paul!), and, if done tastefully, there should of course be room for the occasional remark (on both of them) in here - and there certainly is.
This thread, however, seems to me to be a bit much, and i´m sure it will do more harm than good.

im not aware of what is going on in your country, soren. im sorry if this is offensive.

i know that i have heard quite a few people make fun of Paul Simon, but because i dont find my identity in my Love for pauls music i can listen to them and laugh and hear what they have to say. they arent making fun of me and we all know that paul and artie really AREN´T what people say they are. i think that it is okay to point out what a celebrity is doing/has done wrong because they have chosen to live very public lives. we learn from their mistakes. watching artie makes me want to be a much more humble person because i dont like how arrogant he is.

with that said, i am sorry for offending anyone. bodo, if you could delete my previous message, i would appreiciate it. i was just having a lot of fun when i wrote it. i seriously was just play around. it seemed funny, but i can see how it might offend some people. sorry if it did.

I don´t see what´s the problem with saying why we don´t appreciate someone or something ! I really hope I (and the rest of the world) will always be free to talk freely !
And come on ! A little bit of humour has never killed anybody !
The "problem" with the newspapers in Norway, Sweden and France has nothing to see with Art Garfunkel and why he sometimes gets on our nerves or then, it means we will never be able anymore to criticize and give our opinion (or that Artie´s ego is definitely really big ! ;-)) !!

Are there many devoted Ayatollahs of the Garfunkel Cult on this site? :-)

my main objection to artie is that he made Pauls songs "Lite". His interview thats on excessive Fans about "hearts & bones" shows that he feels this is a good thing to.

I Love both Paul and Artie equally, but I have to agree with the one about his hands...sometimes he does look like he doesn´t know what to do with them!

Insulting someone or stating why they "get on your nerves" is not humorous at all. I believe they call it bullying and it is very frowned upon. We always tell our children that if you don´t have anything nice to say then don´t say anything at all. Yet it seems adult haven´t learned the lesson. Maybe Artie isn´t the one who needs to grow up. (But I do agree with the pot statement....that´s just stupid.)
