i just saw this new dvd in the local shops today. it looks really weird - it´s called "Paul Simon and art garfunkel; Bridge Over Troubled Water" -and then the cover has a photo of them from cp81. as far as i can tell, the copyright date was for 2005, so i guess it´s kind of recent. the whole thing looks a little unprofessional, and the dvd consists of various performances by s&g, or art alone, or paul alone. wondering if anyone else has seen it and if they can tell me whether it´s worth getting (or is it just a compilation from all the other dvds?)

It is not worth a Cent.

I really wonder who stands behind this DVD, it looks like as if it is made by a 10 year Old kid - the videos are de-encoded so unprofessional that every freeware tool would do a better job. And all the videos on it are copyright protected, but they made a copy of them, put it on a cheap DVD and sell it in stores and on amazon and everywhere - how does that work???

BTW, this DVD you are talking about is around 10 months Old now - but just a few weeks ago we found another release like this. Again it looks very cheap... I can´t remember the name now, but has anyone bought it?

hmm yeah that´s strange, how they can take stuff from existing dvds and sell it in a new one. i guess they must have gotten permission somehow though

Well, I really don´t believe they got any permission - because these DVD´s are new(the original ones)... Paul from Paris, or the S&G central park concert.
And the quality is like transfered from an VHS tape, ugly compared to the official DVD´s

Hi. I have already got rid of my copy of Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel ´Bridge Over Troubled Water´ DVD - as has been said, most of the tracks are poor quality lifts from the official S&G DVDs together & solo, and the two tracks ´exclusive´ to this are of such poor quality that they are not worthwhile (one is Paul & George on SNL doing Here Comes the Sun). I am sure SonyBMG will put an end to this being sold ASAP.

I got sent a copy of ´Broadcasting Live´ which has gone back to a release date of Jan 06 in the UK. The footage on here is far more worthwhile & in reasonable quality, but frustratingly none of the clips are dated. They are from various TV appearances, with some great black & white early 60s footage. If only SonyBMG used this stuff to put together an ´Anthology´ style set.

That´s funny, because Paul Simonon was a member of the group "The Clash".

Our Paul Simon was at one of their concerts in New York and told he had to leave in order to protect his ears.

Reportedly one of the wildest and loudest Punk-bands at the time.

When I read english music-papers then, I found this name more often than Simons. (One has a certain skill to find "Pauls" and "Simons" fast).
