Art Garfunkel a Father Again at 64
Wednesday Dec 07, 2005 8:00am EST
By KC Baker
Art Garfunkel and his wife, Kim, are the proud parents of a baby boy
named Beau who was born through a surrogate mother.
"He´s eight weeks," Garfunkel told PEOPLE at his wife´s Monday night
cabaret performance at Manhattan´s Makor Center Cafe.
This is the second child for the couple. Their son, James, was born in
1990, two years after the Garfunkels wed.
"It´s intoxicating" Garfunkel, 64, says of his role as dad. (Usually,
he´s known as half of the legendary folk duo Simon & Garfunkel.) "You´re
being pinched out of normal life. You are going to be chumped and made
silly and startlingly ecstatic."
But, he insists, "I´m doing pretty good. The baby´s pretty good. We have
good help."
As for any plans to resume work with Simon, he says: "I might tour with
my Old partner. I´m going to start a new album."

 | Ah, this really get´s boring now... they (both) should get their ass up and release new solo albums and do something new.
I don´t want the same songs and same show every 2 years now, whats going on - they aren´t that bad :-(
(Do you know any other band who hasn´t released a new album since 35 years but thinks about touring again and again.... |

"born through a surrogate mother"
Why a surrogate mother? Didn´t Kim have James herself? Strange!

 | Let´s hope it is not true.
Maybe there was some talk to expand the OF tour to Australia and Japan, only that would make a little sense. We all know how much AG wants it, it will be in his advantage to talk about it in the media and it will be more pressure for Paul to do it.

 | Hehe, when I read this discussion topic I thought OF was referring to the German town Offenbach (OF is the abreviation and only strange people live there...). Now THAT would have been terrible - a new S&G tour only in Offenbach! Well anyway, I hope they won´t tour again...I mean the OF tour (LOL) was nice but now it´s enough :-) |

 | Yes you´re right...I was thinking about "The Late Great Johnny Ace" a lot today: "On a cold december evening/Í was walking through the Christmas time/When a stranger came up and asked me/If I heard John Lennon had died..." |

 | Grr this is getting kinda annoying. It seems like this happens a lot, Artie will say something like this about going on tour and then when Paul´s asked about it he´s like "this is the first i´ve heard about it" Hopefully something happens soon, i´m tired of waiting...plus i haven´t seen either of them in concert and i would sell my soul to the devil to do so :) |

 | I never have heard that Paul has been asked about any tour... I always hear ´Art confirmed it´...and then they are on tour :-) |

 | A couple of times i heard Paul responding to a tour question and just saying "that´s just a rumor" or something similar...but this was quite a while ago :) |

 | I think this was just a few weeks/days after the Grammy reunion in Feb 2003...
But I also think the pressure on Paul was very big to do that (the tour). |
