YES! Paul MUST MUST MUST come to Australia! His fans in Australia should get a petition organised and send it to his management or something. If he came here I´d buy tickets to every one of his shows in Sydney.

I have an official release date!!!

quote:
"Look for the new Paul Simon record coming Spring 2003 on Warner Bros. Records." -> Found in the booklet of "The Paul Simon Collection: on my way, don´t know where i´m goin´" from 2002.

Can we sue Warner for telling lies about the release date? :-(

Sorry for the Old joke.

What is Art Garfunkel doing? His website reports he is working with Richard Perry on something of a follow-up to "Breakaway" and an echo of what Rod Stewart´s been doing: Old standards with lush orchestrations. Do I detect a distinct anti-Artie bias in this forum??!! Or just a desire that Artie and Paul keep the past in the past?

No toki, you can sue Art Garfunkel for that... the facts are there, he is the reason that this PS album has not been finished until today...

What´s with all the animosity towards Art. Yes of course Paul has been very successful on his own, but he got his start WITH Art not without him. Art and Paul are both amazing solo artists, but I think the work they did together will always be their best.

Art is an amazing solo artist? I am sorry but not in my opinion. I mean he has not exactly put out anything of interest other than My Little Town (written by Paul), Bright Eyes, and If I Fall in Love it Would Be Forever.
On the other hand, look what Paul has done solo, even being inducted into the Rock´n´roll hall as a solo artist. Can Artie say that?
Don´t get me wrong, I like Artie too. I admit that he DID give a lot to Paul´s career and to Simon and Garfunkel, but those days are gone except for nostalgia reasons. It´s okay to ressurect it for a tour now and then but I think Paul has done a lot better since Artie. With Artie around his neck, I don´t think Paul would have been able to expand musically as he has. Besides, what did you expect from this site? Av lot of people here are solo fans of Paul, not Artie. I mean I know e all love Artie, but I think this is primarily a Paul Simon site and anything related to him. If I am wrong then someone tell me now!
One last thing, I think Paul would have been a success even without Artie somewhere down the road because of his songwriting skills.
(Okay, I am waiting for all the stinging resonses now...if I am thrown out of this site, it was nice to have known you all! :)

Wow. Such different opinions... If I recall, The Capeman had several different people working vocals in addition to Paul Simon. just because a potential performer would be named Art Garfunkel should not dimish the stature of a new album. If anything it could add credibility to the solo work of Paul Simon as having overcome the past and integrated it into the future.

"Everything Waits to be Noticed" is of interest. One of the six songs that he co-wrote is his answer to "The Only Living Boy In New York." Interested?

Hi Jen

Well, it is not exactly true that Paul had his start with Art - (it is true that SOS was his and S&G first hit) -
In the late 50´s and early 60´s Paul was always working hard on his music career, wrote many many songs (all the songs which later became the early S&G songs), and Art has given up his musical career for some time, then came back, gave up...a.s.o. I would say Art was never sure if he ever would have success, while Paul Simon went to England and his only dream was to become a real star.

And you maybe know, Art couldn´t forgive Paul for about 30 or more years that he recorded solo songs at the age of 15....
Anyway, what I really wanted to say is, in my opinion Paul Simon would have become a word-star in any case, with or without Garfunkel.

To all the ones who complain we are sometimes too bad with Art and that we don´t want Paul and Art to make a new cd : after all, you are on a Paul Simon´s forum and site, not on the AG´s one or in a S&G fans club...

To Everyone How could all of you dispise Art He is a good man. Don´t get me wrong i Love Paul dearly but in my opinion there is no Paul without Art. Sure Paul did better on his solo career but Paul started out with Art. Simon and GarfunkelTom and Jerry were the beginning. I believe if Paul didn´t have Art he wouldn´t be as well known. I would love Simon and Garfunkel to tour again!!

Ah Callista, we wrote exactly the same things :-)
[I should read other answers before I write...]

And no one will be thrown out of this site (beside the fact that this isn´t possible), also S&G fans who tend to be a little bit more on the S&G side than the PS side are welcome. But they have to live with the fact that most of us here are strictly PS fan´s.

Maybe the web could need some more sites.

A real S&G fan site (one with a forum, updates and news...not an official one)

And a ´Art Garfunkel and a little bit Paul Simon fan´ site :-)
