If you ACTUALLY ever really met Paul, what would you do? Let´s say you see him in a place of dining, or perhaps a shop, or even walking down the street, would you appraoch him and tell him what a fan you are, or, knowing how a lot of stars value their sense of normalacy and privacy, would you leave him alone and just kind of watch him?

I, myself am not sure of that question. Knowing me, I probably would just try to watch him without him noticing, and then kick myself later for all the things I could have said but didn´t!

Well last summer I met Artie at a hotel swimming pool (of all things!) and he was really friendly and charming and fun to be with, so if I ever met Paul I´m sure I´d say hello and tell him how much he means to me. I think it´s obvious that artists like Artie & Paul Love the idea that people care about their work, they just don´t want to be with stupid people who are only interested in hanging onto the coat tails of fame. Anyway with Artie I talked about BOTW and what it meant to him after all this time, and we were having this conversation while we were hanging out in the pool and it was all perfectly natural and I think that´s how it should be when you meet someone famous. In a way it would be rude not to tell them how much they have given to your life. Plus you don´t often have an experience of meeting someone like that in your life so what a waste if you don´t make something of it!! I also think that it´s only right to be a bit discreet about it afterward - but I can tell you that Artie keeps himself in good shape and he was much faster in the pool than I was, and he also splashed me a lot which we both had a good laugh about.

wow that´s an amazing story! well if i saw paul i would definitely go up to him and tell him how much he and his music means to me (but without doing the whole squealing and screaming fans thing). i just watched the yto dvd last night and i´m so in Love with paul! he´s so gorgeous.i agree, i think artists really appreciate knowing that their work has had a deep and profound impact on their audience.

I´m not sure if I would talk to him...this could destroy a lot of illusions about the person.

Anyway, the chance that I will meet him private is close to zero - and I think while he is touring the circumstances are different.

I would not talk to him when he has a dinner with other persons - but I think I would talk to him when he is walking trough a park...or sitting in a bar ( I guess he doesn´t sit in bar´s anylonger since 15 years or so ;-) )

Anyway, if I would talk to him I would try not to talk about his music or that I am a fan - I guess that must bore him to death ( I think Garfunkel is the 180° opposite of that). But it is very hard to keep a conversation at a high level if this isn´t your mothers-language, so he might not be very interested in talking to me :-)

Ah, Bodo, just wanted to say that I visited Vienna last month and loved it. I´d Love to see more of Austria. And it seems like you have a great grasp of English. :-)

oh god...that is my biggest dream!! If he was with his family i would probably just admire from afar and then slowly go into a cardiac arrest:) if he was alone and on the street or something i would probably just quietly go up to him and state how much i loved him and his music and then die of happiness :)

If I met Paul I would probably fainth or something.
I wouldn´t know what to say. I would be afraid that he wasn´t going to like me. Imaging actually meeting Paul and he doesn´t like you! That would be heartbreaking.

I have been lucky enough to have met Paul on 2 occasions. First was at a movie premiere. Just that day I had purchased the screenplay for One Trick Pony and so I asked him to sign it for me. He said he was surprised to see that the book was already published, and he very graciously inscribed it for me. The second time was in Connecticut, where I went to see S&G perform. He and I were the only two people working out in the hotel gym. I went up to him and thanked him for continuing to produce such great music. We had a nice conversation, with no one else around to interfere. I told him I first saw him in concert in 1967 and many, many times since then, and that I was really looking forward to the new album. He said he was working hard on it but it was (at that point) only half done. He was very kind and courteous and seemed to appreciate the conversation.

That has to be one of the most amazing Paul stories I have heard. Not only did you get to meet him,but you actually WORKED OUT with him??? Now I KNOW I would have died a happy person if that had happened to me!!
Just out of curiosity, what was he working out on?
