 | When I listened "Me and Julio..." a day ago, I noticed, Paul´s voice souns strange... You can hear 2 voices in melodie, I think these voices are Paul´s. Why did it so special record? What do you think about it? |

 | He simply thought stronger vocals were good for this song, and I agree. He indeed sang two times himself. That doesn`t mean that he missed Garfunkel...
American Tune and Slip slidin` away would have been suitable for Simon and Garfunkel, as both live versions in 1981 and 2004 showed.
But Paul Simon is a master in background vocals. He mostly did them himself. And for others like Randy Newman on The Blues or Joan Baez on Rambler/Gambler -Whispering bells.
Hear Late In The Evening, She Moves On or Train In The Distance. Great! |

 | It´s true, but why sang he the part "unisono"? f.e. in Boxer sing Simonand Garfunkel unisono paar mensures and than they sing duo. I think Me and Julio is very strange song (it starts new Paul´s style), I like this song very much... |

 | It is almost the only fast Hit-song without any drums; this was totally unusual. But there was much unusual before Graceland, it only was noticed later.
The gospel-revival with the million-seller "Loves Me Like A Rock" and other songs was Simons idea.
He also was the first white musician to introduce reggae with the Top-ten-Hit "Mother And Child Reunion". (The black group Desmond Decker had a hit before with "The Israelites", also a remarkable song).
"El Condor Pasa" surely was the biggest Hit with South-American-Music ever.
"Unisono": he did not want different, but stronger voices. He has a very nice voice, but more on the "thin-"side, compared to Billy Joel etc. |
