There´s always been one line which has puzzled me on ´Graceland´, although it sounds very obvious. It´s ´As if I´d never noticed the way she brushed her hair from her forehead.´ How does that show that she is leaving him? I can´t say I´ve ever noticed this in women who have said good bye to me...!

Please consider the imaginations.

In fact brushing the hair is not normal for woman in their best years.

But for men getting bald, as Simon.

Seems he watched the way woman brush their hair very carefully...

The very fascinating line in the song is "loosing Love is like a window in your heart".

No, it´s just an observation of one thing the man misses about the woman.....a personal thing between them that he remembers her by.

Exactly, BingFrisby : the same for "as if I didn´t know my own bed"

It´s not really about brushing hair with a brush or a comb. I think it´s about a habit she has - brushing her hair off her forehead. He notices all her little quirks but she doesn´t know that he´s so in tune with her.

Yes, that makes sense. Both the bed and the hair imagery are about intimacy, and this part of the song is about the pain of losing it.
Thanks!
