 | Have any of you heard Ryan Cabrera sing the song?...He sings it at all of his concerts. I understand that all of you are big fans of Paul´s, and I respect that, but I have to say that I find Ryan´s way of singing it a whole lot catchier. |

but seriously,
its easy to paint a house and say that now the house looks much better, but the fact is that someone had to built that house from the ground up in order for it to be painted. needless to say, the one who built the house has much more talent than the person who threw a coat of paint on it.
paul created the canvis and the colours and the objects which are in the picture.
paul built the house.
paul wrote the song and whats-his-name just added a coat of colour. |

| Goodness...all I said was that I find Ryan´s version a lot catchier. I didn´t say that Paul was untalented...why do you think Ryan sings a song he wrote at his concerts? Because he thinks that he´s talented and he has a lot of respect for him.
But to say that Ryan is untalented for doing so is just wrong...he says that he wants to bring the show "back to the Old school" for a moment...it´s not all he sings.

| hey!! you really should give the dude (ryan) a chance!! his version rocks harder then pauls!! you just have to accept that ryans version is better and move on.. i dont mean to be rude.. we are all in titled to our opinions |

Anyways, I´m not going to fight about it. I haven´t heard his version, so I have nothing to say about it. Dawn was just letting everyone know of a cover out there and their opinion, there´s no reason to jump on her. Same for Paul fans. It´s their opinion.
(Oh and there´s no point on all these RC fans coming over to fight for him. If you want to talk about Paul Simon, fine, but I doubt you´ll get PS fans to change their opinions about this song). |

| I personally wasn´t trying to change anyone´s opinion...I just wanted to know if you guys have heard it and if you did what your opinions on it were. So thank you Kathryn for seeing that.
Yes some other Ryan fans came and said things like that you should just accept that Ryan´s version is better...just know that my intention wasn´t to make anyone accept anything.
Anyway I have a video clip of Ryan singing it and if anyone would like to hear it I´ll download it...my dad taped it so it´s not too professional of a video though. |

 | I would have no problem if this other version is better. Don`t know it. Paul Simon recently said, that he was never quite satisfied with the sound of the synthesizer.
In concerts he has problems to sing it as fast and exact as he does on record. The same applies to others of his really fast songs, as Late In The Evening or Gone at last.
But his singing on record is great. Art Garfunkel would not be able to do it!
I only like covers if they are quite different, as Aretha Franklin`s Bridge Over Troubled Water. Alicia Keys at Simons Kennedy-center tribute was weak.
Can`t think of many good covers of his songs. |
