 | Oh, those rumours...There have been some about Pink Floyd and the Dire Straits, too...Straits wouldn´t be that improbable, but the Floyd management has aleady denied. And if Paul didn´t have anything to do with the original show the chances don´t seem tot be that high I guess... |

 | Paul was booked for Live Aid but backed out late.
Citizen of the Planet of the Earth would make a great song for Live8 |

 | Live 8 is stupid-they aren´t even raising any money-it´s just a ploy to try and get the world´s leaders to listen. |

 | Sorry, everyone, but the ONLY person who could get the World´s leaders to listen was shot dead in 1980! |

 | It´s all about the artists getting popularity, most of them don´t give a damn. The world leaders don´t give a damn either |

 | The worlds leaders - who are they and who are the mightiest? Difficult to answer, probably for themselves too.
But regardless how many one will count and how big the circle is (a customs collector or a chimney-sweep can be very mighty, but we are thinking of the ones like George Bush, Bill Gates and Osama bin Laden (certainly not hearing western music, even if against the west), they are all in the age of the Old Rock-music-stars like Simon, Dylan, (Lennon), Jagger or younger.
Do they here this music, as they certainly did in their youth, or do they prefer more "elite"-music (classical or jazz) to show how intelligent they are?
Is there a difference to "normal" people?
In the seventies, when I was young, the "mighty" generation and most parents didn`t accept Pop/Rock at all. "Dangerous for the kids". So they did not know the difference between Paul Simon or the provoking Dylan or Stones.
Because it was dangerous, they said: it has no musical quality; this has certainly changed. |

 | Live8 i think is a good idea, you´re probably right Turkey that many do it for publicity but if it makes some difference so what the reasons. We said the same about bob geldof with live aid but he´s still in there as is Bono who doesn´t need the publicity....see dublin this weekend - 3 concerts with >80000 people each night and more turned away.
I´ve got to like Jazz and classical (and esp opera) in my Old age, Klausi but I still Love paul´s music, which I consider to be as intellectual as any of the above. |
