Hi all,
I am in London right now :-) and found and extended version of the Capeman album at the Virgin Megastore including a demo version of Born In Puerto Rico, Can I Forgive Him and Shoplifting Clothes...Anyone heard anything about this? I must have completely missed it.

It is as the 9 CD in the box with bonus. And each CD can be to buy separately.

You can still buy them. At amazon they sell both albums (for exapmle Graceland) for the same price. Maybe they have too many Old CD´s in stock.

I think it wasn´t a good idea to ´replace´ the original albums by these new ones with the extra bonus tracks. Simon always thought a lot about the song order on every album, and these extra tracks destroy this order. (not the order, but now the last song on YTO isn´t ´Quiet´ anylonger... but it should be the last one)

i haven´t heard the remastered albums yet so how´s the sound? is there really a distinct difference from the Old ones?

The sound is almost "another world". Especially on the first albums including Graceland, not so much on the albums after that.

Even without bonus-tracks recommendable to buy (and sell the Old ones at ebay).

And the bonus tracks contain many highlights. Since Simon is a perfectionist, you get many more emotional but nevertheless touching versions here.

"Duncan", American Tune", "Slip slidin` away" with a strong beat, a different version of "Gone at last" etc.

Also in this regard the later albums are less interesting, and I agree, that on YTO "Quiet" should mark the end.

great! you´ve just convinced me to go and get the new albums then! but they´re kind of impossible to find in australia, and i don´t have my own credit card, so i guess i´ll have to wait until i manage to convince my parents to let me use their credit card...

I totally sympathise with you, Nik. I´m 16 like you, so have no credit card to order stuff on the internet. I spent MONTHS trawling the 3 major CD shops in my nearest town, until I was lucky enough to find the boxset in one of the shops - I was so happy!:-)

However, personally, I would say that the boxset isn´t worth buying unless you have very few or no PS albums. I only had tapes of most of the albums which is why I bought the boxset, so it was worth my while spending all that money. But, then again, I´m not really very good at hearing differences in sound quality, so maybe it is worth buying afterall..

Good luck!

lol thanks gypsy. yeah i do have very few ps albums - ie. Graceland and the anthology and Concert In The Park. i´ve got lots of the other songs as mp3s but i´d rather have them on cd. they don´t stock all that many around here.

lol and it´s worth spending any amount of money on paul and his stuff!

Have just thought of something that could possibly help you. One of my friends has a debit card (she is 16) which allows her to order stuff off the internet. Maybe it´s different in Australia, but you could investigate trying to get one.
