 | As someone who is a big album fan over just individual songs (especially with Paul) it should also be realized that the individual songs make up the album. That being said, what are the best back to back songs on any Paul album. In my eyes I base it on: best representing the album as a whole, fluidity of the songs being played adjacently, how good the songs are and finally how much the two are associated in one´s mind. For example, I can´t think of Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes without thinking of You Can Call Me Al coming up next.
Here are my favorite "back to backs" in no particular order.
1) 7.Dangling Conversation 8. FNBWTR
2) 1.Mother And Child Reunion 2. Duncan
3) 5.DOTSOHS 6. You Can Call Me Al
4) 1. BOTW 2. El Condor Pasa
I know many will find this thread quite trivial but to me its these such things that make listening to his albums so enjoyable. O yeah, also, St. Jody´s Comet followed by Loves Me Like A Rock. What an excellent contrast!

 | It`s funny, one can see, you only remember the time of CD. My first copy of Graceland was on Vinyl, so I had to go and turn around the LP after Diamonds and had almost forgotten what was before, when the first tone of You Can Call Me Al was heard (if I did start with side one at all)... | | | Thomas May-11-2005, 11:00 GMT

 | HEHE, I have this thing with all the Paul Simon songs, Travis :-). It sounds very strange when you put your stereo on the shuffle function. If the last tones of DOTSOHS are plying, you allready begin with singing Call me Al, and then your hear Graceland or something :-) | | | |
