 | Personally, I wouldn´t panic, unless you have too. Lots of things get said and then nothing happens. I´d just wait and see first.

 | As far as I know, as long as you credit the author with the work you are not committing any copyright violation. You are not profitting from the lyrics so that isn´t an issue either. No college or high school student could write a paper without using other people material and providing references and foot notes. From what I can see, the lyrics are not a problem.
As long as the photographs are credited or used as "product descriptions" I don´t see a problem either. You are not using them in a commercial way to promote your site, only as information after someone has located it, so I think you are in the clear. However I am not a lawyer and perhaps someone here could contact you with a legal opinion. |

 | You actually need the copyright owners (not always the author) permission before re-printing anything. |

 | Well, it´s different laws in different countries, isn´t it?
As far as I know, the so-called "Abmahnungen" in Germany are illegal if they are obviously sent out to earn a lot of money.
A lawyer-company sent out those bills to everybody who had numberplate-like regional codes in their URLs (like, well, um, let´s see: "hh" for Hamburg, maybe hanjo-hh.de or something), as they are copyrighted. They didn´t get very far. "Abmahnungen" have nothing to do with prosecution by the police, and may not be connected with the actual copyright owner. There even exist whole organizations concerned with that business.
But, yes, lyrics are copyright protected. Under German law, you don´t even need a copyright note or something. If you write a poem, it´s your copyright. Doesn´t need anything else, unlike, I think, in the US.
So, you might take it away, or under the fan section, but otherwise seek official permission to reprint the lyrics. I did that couple of times for printmedia, if you just say, you recommend the cds (and maybe put a link to amazon or something), I can imagine, that´s allright for the music industrie.
Especially as you/we always recommend to BUY official releases.
Of course you are allowed to write a biography, and you mostly won´t get problems when you publish cd-covers if it´s in a sort of review-related context.
PS: And no, I won´t wave a flag like that on the left ...

 | if each member of this site were to count what he has spent (Cd, dvd, places in concert etc... concerning PS or SG) since he is registered on this site and that whe make the total sum... I believe that it would be rather edifying!!! :-)

 | Yes the site will stay open. I was just thinking a little bit about the future...the future about the internet and site´s like this one.
At the moment they will even have a problem to contact me, I don´t have a so called imprint (´Impressum´) and this website is placed on a server in Malaysia :-)
But I wouldn´t be happy to get a bill of around 2000$ one day.
Anyway, I got a email 2 years ago from a lawyer from California, who thought it would be a good idea to sue me if I don´t delete this bootleg list. So I deleted the page for 2 or 3 weeks :-) |

 | Unfortunately, there are lawyers specialized in searching the net and in threatening to sue people for the website content. At heartsandbones.it we had a problem in January 2004. We had copied an article from an Italian newspaper. It referred that Paul had sued a lady for being a "molestor". A lawyer from California found the link to our site, had the article translated (it was in Italian) and threatened us of legal action if we did not remove it, as the accuse had been dismissed. Notice that we were not the authors of the article. Finally we found an agreement with them, we kept the article without the lady´s name.
This is just to say that there are people working especially on this.
In any case, hold on Bodo. Lot´s of people do support you. |

 | WHat I wanted to add:
it don´t think it is necessary to close a website. As siad before, Internet would be killed by this - who is interested in this? Tihs will cost those people, who are trying to sue people like you (Bodo) their job. And they can´t do this... how many sites are there? A million, a billion? Even more? I believe only a very small part are without any copyright violations.
It is allowed to write a biography about whoever you want. I have a friend who did so. She was even allowed to publish photos she took at a concert. And nothing happened.
And as you said before, how do they want to find you?
I run a website of my own and I will not do anything until someone accuses me of violating copyrights. Many then I will delete the lyrics sections for a few weeks or so...
No need to give up, in my opinion.
