Even if I knew it was going to be Art´s very last tour ever I wouldn´t buy tickets. However, I would probably fly to Australia to see Paul solo in concert (if I had the money). So, I would say $65 isn´t that much, if it´s convenient for you, go. If you don´t get tickets, not a big deal. That´s only MY opinion, though. What are YOUR feelings about it?

I was very excited 1n 1976, when the "New illustrated New Musical Express Rock Encyclopedia" described all rock-musicians/bands and printed 19 acts in double format as very important. One of them was, no, not Simon and Garfunkel, but Paul Simon. S&G did only appear under his name!

"Though Simon has only made three new albums since the split, it seems now as during the whole S&G-partnership he was merely serving his apprenticeship, so much more forceful and stimulating has his music become since the split."

Later:

"Simon now says he thinks many people dont arrive at the full peak of their creative powers until they are in their thirties. He only recently engaged his, and he and Joni Mitchell are the two contemporary singer-songwriters with equal and abundant critical and commercial success".

GREAT!!! Saved my spiritual life for at least a couple of months. Not until his next album One-trick pony, but long.

Well Mikey, maybe you should ask yourself these questions before you make a decision.
Do you listen to AG solo records?
Do you know any of his solo work because he will sing not only S&G songs.
Do you like to see him perform with his wife and his son? I´m not sure if Kim performs this tour but his son James is.
And do you like to see AG without his wig....;-)

Comon people...

IMO, it doesn´t matter who is singing, as long as someone sings Simon-songs, I am interested to see the show !

I would even go to see Britney Spears, if she would sing my favorite songs ! (Uuh, this imagination kills me)

And I guess there are people who are less related to Paul than Art, so why not see his show ?

His choice of Simon songs isn´t very creative.
Well, I would not go, it has nothing in common with a Paul Simon concert, it´s a 50% S&G show.

Right, and why not go to see a 50% S&G show ?

I have to admit that I am a concert-maniac... I go to a lot of shows, and 50% S&G would be enough reason for me to see this show.

By the way: this weekend I go to see Mark Knopfler... IMO one of the top 3 guitarplayers ever !!

Very cool - I LOVE Mark Knopfler 8-) Gonna see him in Frankfurt in a couple of weeks...
But, to stay on-topic, I wouldn´t pay 60 EUR to see good Old Art, sorry ;-)

Hearing Mark Knopfler must be great. He deserves to be rewarded as 90 % of Dire Straits, but he isn`t.

One reason I think is, that his solo efforts are great, but not as daring as Simon`s. "Sailing to Philadelphia" with James Taylor is pleasing, but not as relevant as "Sultans of Swing" was in 1977.

He is one of the very few guitarists creating a new style, really remarkable and not easy to play!

One has to like his dark, limited voice.

I have this thing where I won´t go to a concert unless I know the words to every song. So that rules out 50% of an Art Garfunkel concert.

That`s why I watch and like talk-shows. One knows every single word before...

"Over the mountain down in the valley, there`s a former talk-show host. Everybody knows his name."

And every word he ever said.

Right, and why not go to see a 50% S&G show ?

I´m even not ´flame´ for a S&G show, so why a 50% S&G show?

But I would go to Mark Knopfler :-) (not only because of the 50% Dire Straits)
