I feel, on one hand, S&G should not record a new album together. As S&Gs no 12 fan, I would like to leave it at Bridge Over Troubled Water.I think their 5 studio albums are part of one of the most lasting images/sounds of the 1960s and fit in there and should stay there.(hard to word this posting as I already feel you would understand what I want to say about this)...it´s a double edged sword in the sense of..."I wonder just what they might come up with if they did do another record and when/if it is heard would we be glad they did it?" .....It´s a Beatles scenario..I am glad the Beatles never re-united as it was time for each of them to move on.....BUT....did we miss something they COULD have done?.......So,Yes or No to a new S&G album??Take into account that Simon & Garfunkel ARE NOT SIMON & GARFUNKEL ANY MORE!!!

I think, when you look at the music that Paul Simon recorded post S&G you feel that he couldn´t possibly have carried on with that sound.

The likes of Graceland was where he was heading after S&G not more folk. Solo Paul Simon is not what you´d call folk. The strain was beginning to show between S&G by the time of bridge but so was Simon´s diversification. It´s my opinion that Simon had also decided musically that enough was enough. If they had recorded another album i think it wouldn´t have been anything like any S&G gone before it. I even think Bridge is totally different from the albums before it.

I think, in some ways, that Paul would find it hard to write a new S&G album because his music has changed so much. S&G were very, as Paul once put it, sweet in sound. Where as Paul has much more of an edge to his music now. And going by what we´ve read here about the new up and coming Paul Simon album, it has even more of an edge now.

I can understand the point of view that it would be interesting to see what, if at all possible, would Paul come up with now for the voices of S&G, but I think he´d find it too much of a chore. As I said the way he writes has changed and it rarely, say for a couple of songs, fits into the S&G sound.

So, no, S&G was then and this is now. I have loved listening to the cd of the concert and loved watching the DVD. But their paths, in terms of music, are going in different directions to the point that Paul would find it difficult to find his way back there, on writting terms. And Artie would be unlikely to head in Pauls direction, in order to create a NEW S&G sound.

Wow, I think I´ve written a lot there. Hope it makes sense....lol
