Hello

I´ll start to make some more VHS - DVD transfers, and so I ask you: Who has some good material on VHS tapes (1th generation prefered, not a copy) of Paul Simon material?
I´m especially searching for ´A roll of the dice´ in high quality.
VH-1 Storytellers,
Rock Steady: The Rythm of The Saints (also in high quality)

and maybe rare videoclips.

I´ll make a DVD out of it, and send a DVD and the VHS tape back to you then.

12 hours is a lot of stuff. I also have a lot of tapes (quality from not watchable to fairly good /compared to DVD)
But I will only transfer the good quality things. The rest would be too much work for not watchable things.

FOr example I have the Letterman appearance from 1984 when Paul plays Citizen of the planet, but it´s more like a funny psychodelic color-LSD trip to watch that ;-)

We should work out who has the best quality clip of one performance and then transfer only the good things.

There is a television broadcast from the 1975 ish period of Simon on stage with Toots Theilmans etc from the Live Rhymin´ period.I have a copy but unfortunately it is very poor in both sound and picture quality.I will do some investigating and see if I can trace my copy back to the original source...again, time consuming and with the likely outcome being no results. But trying won´t do any harm. It´s the programe where he messes Homeward Bound up and says "That´s Nothing" and has the footage of S&G doing The Boxer. I have a good audio copy of this performancs on CD though. Not heard myself of any bootlegs on film or video from this period....then in those days camcorders were not really available to the everyday person as they are, thankfully, today.

Bodo, I also have the 1986 "Graceland" promotional video,a half hour documentary. Also another 1966 black and white clip of Homeward Bound, lip synching to the record, and a snippet of colour footage from 1966, again Homeward Bound. It really needs all sorting out and transfering over to DVD.I keep finding more stuff as I look further.I wonder if you have any footage of the pre 1982/3 concert interview, Father and Daughter live, introduced by Steve Martin, Kurt Loder/Simon interview from MTV, 1991 ish.Garfunkel at the Prince´s Trust 1987.Simon interviewed with Marc Anthony on the Songs From The Capeman.I Do It For Your Love (I think SNL, blue shirt, c1977).Diamonds, Grammys.

I only have the clips of father and daughter form the Oscars and good morning America. There wasn´t more I guess? I don´t know anything about a Steve Martin introduction to that song - but I have Steve Martin introducing Paul at the Kennedy center honorations.

I believe I have "I Do It For Your Love" from SNL on tape, and the Diamonds clip. I also have the Grammys from 1987 (but AFAIK with a German translator)

Hi Machteld.

One question, did you record these clips from TV? Or someone gave a copy to you?

Thanks
bodo

Hi!

I have recorded some things myself on tape, but someone else copied some things as well. But most of it it really good quality, because I recorded it myself from the tv.
Why? are you interested in something?? Please let me know.

I have the 2003 grammys playing and a documentry which I think is "Born At The Right Time" both recorded from TV. you probably have both but I´d Love to know the name of the documentry as both the end and the beginning is missing - I have described it in an earlier thread but got no answer.
