 | Hi all!
Just FYI i would like to mention that "Songs of America" is currently seeded at easytree.org (DVD format). If you dont have an account there you will have to get one (for free) and then just search for simon and garfunkel and it should pop up. It´s currently short on seeders but they usually come along...
For everyone who hasn´t invested in this already (like me :( ) i think it´s a rare treat.
Happy new year! |

 | Here is the desciption from the easytree.org site:
----------------------
"Simon and Garfunkel
Songs of America
1969 TV special with original commercials
Was originally supposed to be a "Bell Telephone Hour", but Bell didn´t
like the political content. CBS agreed to run the show, but the
commercials included on this DVD are mostly for Alberto haircare
products, so apparently Bell didn´t want their name associated with it.
Produced by Paul Simon and Arthur Garfunkel
Directed by Charles Grodin
Documentary footage and some live material
Live material was filmed November 11, 1969 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio though there´s not much in the way of complete songs.
I don´t know the lineage of this at all, I received it in a trade.
The sound is about what I´d expect for 16mm film from 1969, but the video looks two or more generations away from the master."
------------------------------
Well, it sounds like it´s just a dvd copy of the video recording that has been going áround for some time now. I doubt that there is anything better circulating, but for people that dont have this it´s certainly worth grapping, IMO. I have it on VHS and don´t have a DVD burner, so I´m not gonna dl it myself, but if this is really of the same quality as my tape I will recomend everyone with a DVD burner (and an acceptable dl speed ;) ) to take it down. |
