hey folks yesterday I found a DVD called the Paul Simon Special. Its the show he did for SNL, where he does a send up of making a show with a hyper interfering producer. He did six songs slightly differently arranged from usual:
Something So Right
Still Crazy After All These Years (Richard Tee on Keyboards)
Loves Me Like A Rock (with Jesse Dixon Singers)
Old Friends (with Artie)
Boxer
Slip Slidin´ away
has any one else seen this DVD I had heard rumours about videotape but didn´t think it existed as DVD.
Turkey and anyone else who is near Dublin Tower Records is selling it for 7.99?.
If this Old news I´ll curtail my excitement if not I´ll put this posting in the news section

I bought the video on eBay a while back. I thought it might be a con because I´d never heard of it, but it´s genuine enough. It´s quite amusing, as well as having the songs mentioned. It´s this special that I remembered when I began the thread about the concert script, because in the special Paul and Artie are given a terrible script by the producer. Paul: ´Now I´d like to introduce my dear friend - ´ Producer: ´My very very dear friend - ´ Definitely worth buying if you can find it!

I saw that on TV in 1991 when Paul came to Portugal to give a concert - and I didn´t go... :( While he was giving the concert the TV showed that special.
Some time ago I saw it again because on that same day (back in 91) my boyfriend recorded it on videotape, but I didn´t know him back then... We both saw it again recently and laughed a lot.
It´s very amusing. I specially like the part about the «Paul "Bridge Over Troubled Water" Special». And I like the way he makes fun of himself...

I think I saw the DVD for sale on Amazon, but it was only zone 1 (USA). That´s a problem. There´s another DVD for sale, "Live at the Tower Records" (I think this is the title) that also does not exist for Europe, as well as the video for "One-Trick Pony".

I have it on a video-cd (a copy from VHS).. in poor quality. I didn´t watch it for 2 years now, so maybe I invest on the DVD *g*

7,49 is a good price, the only fault is, shipping costs 8,50 then *g*

Yes : the shipping is often more expensive than the DVD itself (same problem when you order something in the States !)
