I know it´s embarrassing, but I still don´t get what Paul is exactly saying during the Central Park concert 1981. The thing with "selling loose joints".

Can anybody explain that to me ?

I thought he firstly thanks the people who made it possible that the concert was organised, like the police, the fire department etc.. But he really likes to thank citizens who help other citizens personally, without being thanked for that.

My english is not that good, but I hope you understand better now :-). At least I tried.

He says that he thanks the guys in the crowd who are selling loose joints cause they are donating half of their income from that to the city.

Okay, and here is the last question. After that, I should get it:
what are loose joints ?
(My english is not that good...)

I think the question Kuno meant was
"what does ´LOOSE´ in that context mean"

??

Most americans don´t think that pot or a joint is a big deal.
A lot of people smoke it at concerts and such.
And "joint" is also the nickname for ordinary cigarettes.

"loose" joints? It´s one joint.. not in any package.

Right... I guessed it would mean that. And to make clear: I also smoke weed...at the S&G show I smoked about 8 joints :o)

So, obviousely I have no problem with people who smoke pot, but I don´t like people who are selling it and make a profit out of it.
Or at least, I think it´s strange that Paul officialy said that they are doing a good job...
Handing out joints for free, that would have been a good job !

Sure...that´s why I have 15 plants on my roof during the summer...

That´s enough for me and my closest friends for one year...and then I plant again.

Eh eh!Eight joints? In Rome I smoked only one.
It´s strange that Paul thanks pot-sellers.
