Cars Are Cars has that great middle bit - ´I once had a car that was more like a home...If some of my homes had been more like my car, I probably wouldn´t have travelled this far.´ Great!
I read that Paul didn´t like Armistice Day, and I have to agree. It sounds half-finished, as do several songs on the album. Congratulations is excellent, though. I find some of the songs on ROTS difficult to get into lyrically. I recently discovered the way to get into ROTS musically is to whack up the volume to really appreciate the rhythms! I find Voices Of Old People irritating when listening to Bookends - great idea first time round, but it annoys after that. Oh, and I don´t like Hurricane Eye. I was surprised when he used it to close his solo show (apart from encores), because it´s not a very catchy tune, specially the bit in 7/4 time (now I´ve written that I can´t get it out of my head!). And the constant repetition of ´peaceful as a hurricane eye´ does nothing for me. But the hundreds of other songs are wonderful!!!!!

I Love Hurrican Eye. Why do you think it´s not very catchy?
I think it´s one of his greatest songs, because it changes for 2 times the rhythm, has since years (since Graceland?) on of the best bass lines.

Thats true, the middle bit of Cars Are Cars is very good. What I don´t like is the really cheap synthesizer sound... but I guess that it was just IN to use a ugly sounding synth between let say December 1981 - June 1982 or so... Queen did that too, Paul was a little bit late ;-) I guess Cars are Cars simply doesn´t fit to the other accoustic guitar songs.
