In know that this is a Paul Simon site, so I thought I would bring up this question. Has anyone heard Edie´s new cd Volcano? I know it got good reviews, but I myself have not heard it. Paul was said to have played guitar on a few tracks of it.
The only song I know by her is What I am, and that really didn´t do too much for me.
Any opinions?

You should discover her...she deserves it..."Volcano" is a beautiful album...Paul doesn´t play on it (he produced and played on her "Picture Perfect Morning" album)...In fact, you should buy ALL her albums in solo or with New Bohemians...

I agree with Marieno, Edie is a great singer/songwriter, Volcano is a great album, they played a few songs of this album through the speakers at the Old Friends tour right after the show.

I haven´t heard her new one but I have Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars and it is REALLY good. I bought it and liked it even before I knew she and Paul were married so I think it´s cool that two of my favorite artists are so connected to each other. It does take awhile to get used to, though. She was really young when that CD was released and What I Am kind of reflects that youth and naivete but I still think it´s good.

Thanks for your answer guys. I was at the Hollywood Bowl concert, but I did not hear anything by Edie Brickell played afterwards like you said they may have at some concerts. Belive me, I was there long enough afterwards to know....it was mostly insturmental type music plying afterwards. ( But I do have to admit....:)......I was one of the hits of the concert because I brought along my 12 inch dvd player before hand (I arrived 2 hours before to have a picnic there) and with it I brought the Tower concert, the African concert, and the Central Park Concert. Of course. we watched snippets from each one, but people werre going wild around us trying to see the footage. It was great because we were intruducing a lot of Paul´s concert´s to people who did not eben know they were out...(poor people...)
Anyway, I will definately buy Edie´s new cd now. Thanks!

Sorry about all the misspellings....I went to my sisters wedding party before this and I may have had a wee bit too much red wine!

I own all of Edies albums and Love every single one of them. Volcano is a stunning album and her voice is just fabulous.

Just a small note about Volcano...There are some drawings on the booklet...they were drawn by there children!

Hugs
