 | if youre a fan of pop songs and pretty folk songs then S&G is definitely the way to go. personally, i prefer solo simon (catchy, isnt it?).
pauls songwriting grew so much from his S&G days. he started writing songs that werent so ´woes me´ and that were much more conclusive and profound. his guitar playing became more eclectic and broad instead of so one dementional (not that it always was in S&G, but for the majority, it was). he became an all around better artist once he left S&G and started painting better and more meaningful pictures that had layers upon layers.
thats just my opinion. :^) |

 | jefferson, I have to disagree with the small point that S & G songs are mostly pop and folk. A lot of them I can only define as alternative, especially on the album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. I wasn´t alive in the 60s or even the 70s so I don´t know too terribly much about the music styles back then but a lot of their songs I can compare to modern-day alternative music. I mean Patterns, FNBWTR, Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine (some of the lyrics, anyway), and some of the later ones like Punky´s Dilemma don´t really fit into the "pop" or "folk" categories. |

 | What a difficult choice!
I would have to go with Paul solo though, just because he´s certainly had more of a variety than S&G ever had (the chance of) doing...
Of course I do Love Artie, he is an amazing singer of course, but I feel I connect better to Pauls solo music than to the S&G stuff...
It´s so hard to choose though!!! |

 | I think you can´t make a choice. Paul´s music career has developt through the years. Art is part of that devolopment, whether you like it or not. |

 | Rupert, I think Art was as part of Simons growth as a writer in the 60´s. But not afterwards.. Paul didn´t have to write songs that had to suit Arts voice anymore. |
