 | Nice one JEC :-)
I´m a huge fan and I´m only 5 feet 2 inch :-)
Sorry JEC, wasn´t trying to make your comment any less than brilliant. It was the huge part, made me laugh because I´m not huge, but I´m a huge fan lol!

 | Bodo; I don´t agree with you at all there. :) I´ve never heard of the 400-people concert, so I really couldn´t say anything about it, but I know Art´s fans aren´t 50/50 Old S&G-fans, attracted there because he sings the old songs.
He´s a brilliant artist, too, and I doubt he has any trouble filling his concerts.

 | well Elin, I must admit it Artie sometimes really have just 400 fans in his concerts, but that´s a pretty much intimate athmosphere, I really Love it. But it also depends on the location, usually he fills the concert halls between 1500 and 3000. @ Bodo He is a nostalgic singer and maybe he attracts a lot of S&G fans (well he´s still proud of this time, why not?), but he really has a lot of his fans for his own. He still is a fine artist and I know a lot of people who are longing just to hear him and his own music. |

 | I´ve read somewhere that Artie likes smaller venues and indoor concerts better because his voice can fill the air. This way he can play with his voice and expressing powers. |

 | Nicely put, Sky *admires* That´s about what I tried to say, but, I don´t know, a temporary madness blocked my ability to convey my message ;) |

 | He likes smaller venues not only because his voice can fill the air but because he still wants to be able to be heard by the people sitted in the last row ;-) (sorry, just a joke :-P) |

 | At least, he cares about the ones who are in the last rows (not like a recent concert where the last row was bought 80?...:p) |

 | Paul´s the same, he prefers the smaller venues. I think the reasone for the huge stadiums for the tour was because they (the concert organisers) knew there would be a huge demand and they were right.
As for the 400 fans for Artie. He has played at the City Hall in Sheffield quite a few times and that doesn´t hold much more than about 5 or 600 people, I know, I was there to see LBM a couple of years ago.

 | I think Paul´s solo music is something most young people haven´t heard of, because they are not exposed to it. I mean, look at the kind of singers/bands we have now a days . . . most mainstream artists pale in comparasion with the great talents of the 60s and 70s even the 80s . . . yet on those "young" music channels like MTV and (this is Canadian) MuchMusic, all they do is play videos and deal with artists that are all very young. Older artists never get any attention, and that is a shame, because their music may be Old, but it is still good music.
My point is, I think a lot more young people would fall in Love with S&G/Paul solo, if they got a chance to be actually EXPOSED to it!
I mean, I´m an example. I was raised on this stuff, and I went and rediscovered it on my own. The only reason I ever rediscovered it anyway was because of guitar (I decided I needed a "guitar hero" and I found one -- Paul!). I´ve introduced a few of my friends to their/his music, and they like it too. The potential young audience is there, it´s just not being reached as well as could be expected.
And yes, that has a lot to do with the prices. Now many teens would pay those sky-high prices for the "Old Friends" tickets . . . although one article interviewed a 16-year-old who did . . . :-)
Funny, because in an interview, Paul said that having young fans was important to him. |

 | You know, here in the UK here in the UK we have BBC Radio 1 and 2. Radio 1 is all the so called popular stuff, up to date charts, etc. And 2 is a mixed bag of new and Old stuff.
Now you´d think that Radio 1 would be the most popular....wrooooooooooooooong!
My radio tunes with the most popular first and tunes them in accordingly. It goes BBC Radio 2,3,4,5, Local radio. And somewhere in the middle of the local comes Radio 1...hehehe
Anyway..the point to this post is this. Radio 2, especially the breakfast programme hosted by Terry Wogan, is VERY popular with the youngsters. Their listeners are from 0 - 99 or more. They´re always getting emails from teenagers requesting stuff or just writing in sillies along with the adults.
Sadly BBC Radio 1 isn´t what it used to be and Terry Wogan, aged 72, is THE most popular radio personality!! As is his breakfast programme. It also plays the more Paul Simon and S&G than any other channel.
Just thought I´d mention it...lol!
